No cd patches

Recommended Posts

Before you read any further, this is NOT a post to advocate or promote warez or piracy of any sort.

Do you think No CD patches constitute warez or piracy? I've noticed as soon as anybody mentions them here they get shut down as a warez jockey, but I really believe this isnt the case. I use them on my games wherever possible, for several reasons-

1 - So I don't have to go looking for the CD to play (my house is a pigsty, OK!)

2 - To prevent wear and tear on the CD

3 - Portability, so when I take my machine to LAN parties I dont need to carry a stack of discs

4 - Performance. Some games actually run better and boot faster when they dont have to access a CDROM

Obviously this is only OK if I actaully own the original game and dont have multiple installations.

So, can we have a reasonable and mature discussion about what is and isnt warez without this thread getting shut down? Please consider before locking. Thanks.

this has akways been a topic non-grata, and it will be locked, and depending on which mod logs on first, you will be PR'ed or banned.

Sorry.

I just keep my OFP cd in it's own private CD-ROM drive. I took it out maybe 2 or 3 times since getting it last summer.
