USMC Sniper 0 Posted January 22, 2003 I tried that "OFP Cook book" (whatever the hell it was called) WRP edit tutorial and it never told me how to make islands inside of WRP edit. That Terragen program doesn't let u make them urself, and wilbur is too tedious. Does anyone recommend and excellent tutorials on WRP edit? Since we still haven't gotten anyone to make New Vice Island, I am going to (once again) try to make it myself.
Guest #### Posted January 23, 2003 If you want to start from scratch you have to do the following steps: open Wrpedit and select NEW from the File Menu. the goto the edit menu click SELECT ALL CELLS. then go to the tab on the right that says FLAGS and click it on EXPERT MODE, the options should now be available. the scroll menu that says SEA click that and choose BEACH then click CHANGE, this changes the properties of the land. Now goto the edit menu and select UNSELECT ALL CELLS. in the same menu goto SELECT ALL ELEVATIONS, this takes every cell corner and selects it, goto the tab on the right that says LANDSCAPE, you will see a box that says VALUE, enter any number but for now just put in 7, click CHANGE, what this does is raise the land 7m above sea level. Values from 1-5 can be under water due to tides. Now Unselect ALL ELEVATIONS reselect SELECT ALL CELLS and goto the tab on the right that says SURFACES and 2 cell tiles will be there by default a sea one and Eden\ps.paa click on ps.paa then click CHANGE. Now every cell is desert and your map is a 12.8x12.8 km flat area. To view it goto VIEW menu and click PREVIEW. you can now look around and see flat boring terrain. close that window. This will give you a starting point. This portion took me about 2 days to learn by trial and error. I did find some good sites for tutorials: http://www.freewebs.com/marksmansofpsite/ofptutorials.htm For doing the config file and defining runways. http://www.ciahome.net/modules....EditTut Good reference. Some important tips: If you do a select all cells or elevations remeber to unselect it after. Ctrl+left click on a cell corner will select an individual elevation left click on a cell will select a single cell.
Oberon3d 0 Posted January 23, 2003 Long but...... I have found that you can make a Mesh in Max ( for example)...then export it as 3ds, then convert it to Raw with a program called 3dexplorer. Then you can import that raw into terragen....save it as .ter then import it in wilbur and then save it as txt.... I haven't done any land yet but this is the only way I found to do a model in max....I'm a MAXer...I use it unless is unavoidable
