-AFR-Ranger 0 Posted January 20, 2003 Hi, My friend just got Operation Flashpoint and the Resistance Expansion and he just installed it. I was going to start a multiplayer game to show him the ropes but something rather strange happened. He tried to switch from Sockets mode to Direct Play and his game crashed. He tried over and over again to switch with the same result. He can play single player just fine, but cant switch Direct Play. Any suggestions? Thanks.. ralphwiggum 6 Posted January 21, 2003 just a random shot but does he have a firewall?
-AFR-Ranger 0 Posted January 21, 2003 Yes he does. Â He has a Linksys 4 port router with firewall. Â But I doubt that is the problem as I have the exact same model and my OFP/R works fine in multiplayer. Is there any conflict being reported between DirectX 9.0 and v1.91 OFP Beta? Â Just a shot in the dark.
Mister Frag 0 Posted January 21, 2003 He may also have a messed up DirectX installation. You can try running DXDIAG and click on the Network tab, and open a DirectPlay connection on port 2234 (or whatever port you have OFP configured for). If that doesn't work, OFP won't be able to communicate using DirectPlay, either.
-AFR-Ranger 0 Posted January 21, 2003 Mister Frag, He thinks it could be a faulty DirectX installation. Any Suggestions on how to fix it?
Mister Frag 0 Posted January 21, 2003 What OS does he have? If it is Windows XP or Windows .NET, there is a uninstaller, but it doesn't work on Windows 98 or ME. He could then reinstall DX 8 or DX 8.1 from the OFP and OFP:R CD's, respectively.
-AFR-Ranger 0 Posted January 21, 2003 He has XP. Any clue as to the location of this mysterious Direct X uninstaller?
