Sound problems with version 1.90.......

Recommended Posts

I just downloaded version 1.90 and went to play to discover that when i shoot, I get very little or no gunfire sound. Is this a problem with the upgrade or can something be adjusted to cure the problem? If it is not fixable, is there a way to downgrade to version 1.85 without downloading the whole thing?

Don't know about the rest of your problem, 1.90,1.91 causes no new sound issues for me. SOme Creative drivers do introduce the muffled sound problem.

I forgot to mention I am playing on OFP resistance. I tried messing with it and it seems that everything sounds normal except in full auto. Single and burst work fine. The M60 machinegunner has no problems on full auto either. I think its just on addons I downloaded but they worked fine earlier before I upgraded from 1.75 to 1.90.

The problem is only with the player, not the AI. It's driving me nuts and I have no idea what it could be because everything else works fine.

Okay now I finally have an idea what could be causing the distorted sound. When I fire up into the sky it sounds normal but when i fire onto ground where there are more graphics, it fires too fast! It is firing so fast that all i hear is the first tiny bit of the sound before it starts over again. Is there any way to slow this down?

What are your system specs? What motherboard do you have? Sound card? Video card? Latest drivers for all these?

I'll give my system specs later today when I get back home but its an AMD Athlon 1800+ processor so it is fast enough. I have one question though. Are the Flashpoint 1985 Campaign 1.90 upgrade and the Red Hammer 1.90 upgrade needed if I am running OFP Resistance. Could that be the problem?

They are patches that should be applied but it doesn't say exactly what they resolve.

I would also play around with your sound card's hardware acceleration setting. Try disabling it or maximizing it (under Windows Control Panel - not under OFP's OPTIONS menu) and see if that resolves the problem.

I've got the same problem, but the sound does come back every now and then.

PC Specs;

Xeon 1.7Ghz

512Mb PC800

56Gb Ultra160

GeForce4 TI4200 128Mb AGP 8x 42.01driver

SoundBlaster Live 5.1 Plat latest driver

Windows 2000 SP3

And OPF is patched correctly upto 1.90.

I hope some will look into this.

Yeah. Its wierd how the sound comes back when you shoot into the sky but when ya shoot at the ground its messed up. O well. Hopefully a new patch will solve this problem. Is everyone having this problem? If not, please post your specs. I wonder if downloading the file again will help.
