crashtestdummy 0 Posted December 4, 2002 Hi, Does OFP work fine with a 3d card Hercules Prophet 4000XT PCI (not AGP) 32 MB? I tried every config, but each time it failed. Please help me!
Mister Frag 0 Posted December 4, 2002 The Kyro chips that your card is based on are supported by OFP, and the interface type (PCI vs. AGP) shouldn't matter. I would try getting the latest drivers for your OS (available at Guru3D), install them, and then run the DirectX Diagnostics (DXDIAG.EXE) to make sure all of the video tests pass. What are the symptoms you are experiencing when OFP "fails"?
crashtestdummy 0 Posted December 5, 2002 Hi, Thanks for your answer. When I launch OFP the logo appears, then the screen turns to black for a while and returns to the desktop. I've downloaded the latest drivers for my 3d card from the Hercules webiste and the DirectX test worked fine but none of the configuration I tried in the OFP preferences window worked. I'll try downloading from the website adress you gave me. I have an IBM Aptiva PIII 667MHz, 256 MB, Win ME.
Mister Frag 0 Posted December 6, 2002 What version of OFP do you have? There was a problem with early version where the game would appear to exit, but what really happened is that the focus shifted back to the desktop window, and pressing Alt-Tab would get you back into the game. Another possibility is that the game isn't able to run in the amount of memory available -- that all depends on how much stuff is loaded before you launch OFP. Anti-virus programs, instant messengers etc. all take up memory, and you don't have a whole lot of physical RAM to start with.
