Albert Schweitzer 10 Posted January 19, 2003 Have we ever listed up the potential consequences? I guess yes but with this bad connection you cannot make me reread all those 119 pages. - a great amount of casualties. - a fully ruined infrastructure (back to the stoneage) - UN obligation to financially bring the country back on its knees - a destabilies region with unforseeable consequences - growth in support of anti american resentiments and terorist activities - hitting back on the ENTIRE western world. (and belive me the US wont be the next in line, the next terorist desaster can happen anywhere with simillar outcomes to the ones of 9/11) - a seriously injured relationship between the US and the rest of the western world. - a destabilised oil-price (and that untill Iraq is back on full oil-production capacity) - potential revenge strikes of Saddam - potential threats of revenge against Israel - a struggle of ideologies in Saudi Arabia (hell the biggest OPEC contributor) well I am sure I left some out here. Is it worth to pay this price. Wouldnt it be worth to show a little bit more patience to prevent those side-effects

Albert Schweitzer 10 Posted January 19, 2003 You try to flatten my arguments but they are valid points. Hating america and willing to invest your life to kill to suicide-bomb a nation is a fine and powerful difference. Saudi Arabia is already very unstable, thanks for supporting me on that one. A war might be the motivating step for Saddam to become a and active terorist. Maybe this will trigger off what you try to prevent. Without double standards we can say that a war in Iraq might cost more lifes than a terorist attack!

Longinius 1 Posted January 19, 2003 "Hey, I didn't come up with that standard... Hans Blix and the U.N. did. I suggest you complain to them. I just want to follow their lead as the world suggests." And if Blix jumped off the MTV building, would you follow him? Blix hasnt set any standard, he is simply playing a game with rules defined pretty much by the US. "Actually, the weapon inspectors are getting intelligence now. Does it not make sense that the president can't tell the world everything we know. It could put sources at risk? " Then he shout STFU. If you claim to have proof, you better deliver. Just saying you have proof and not showing it doesnt count for much in any court of law... - Uhm yes your honor. I actually have proof positive that the accused is guilty. But I cant show it, you all are just gonna have to take my word for it... "What you omit is that it was U.N. support after he invaded Kuwait. Sweden not part of the UN my friend? So it is not like we (and 26 other coalition nations) just bombed him for no reason. I guess that would give motive for attack wouldn't it? Also, if he has no beef with the US then why did he try to assasinate President Bush years later?" When and where did Saddam Hussein try and assassinate Bush? "For the right money I'm sure he would." Yes, and why pay when you can invade and put him out of business, thus making all contracts with competing companies void and null. "Don't start on the stupid argument about the atomic bombs. We attacked a military asset, not civilians." No, America still attack two cities full of civilians. "The USA is not an unstable dictatorship sitting on a world asset. Iraq is." What does that have to do with anything?
