2-player LAN connected to the internet

Recommended Posts

I'm getting  cable modem service tommorow(yeehaa) and I want to have a friend and myself be able to both play on the same server on my LAN over the internet. I will have a Linksys router to assign different ips to the 2 computers. My wish is to 2-man some vehicles and play against other people online. And yes, I do have two store bought copies of OFP(to rn malboeuf AKA "fade troll"  ) Is this workable?

Yes it is

When i'm playing online with my 2 pc's, i do it

always in this way: on my 1st pc i create the

host, with my 2nd pc i join into 1st by LAN,

and others from the internet can also join

onto my host

if it's that what you mean

Yep, that's exactly how I do it. Just be careful to open the right ports in your Router so you can host properly. Also, you should both be able to join a remote game without issue....except for a slight contestation for bandwidth, but I've never noticed a slowdown.

Yeah, you shouldn't have a problem...I just got my home LAN to work with a linksys router and DSL too.

One interesting thing I have noticed though is that when me and my brother are playing in a game where players are on opposing sides (DM, CTF, flagfights) we drop connection about 30 seconds into the game. It seems to happen pretty regularly...but coop games work great...had one that lasted nearly 2 hours the other night.

You guys have any idea what's up?

After doing some testing, I found out I could not sign onto the same remote server at the same time with both computers. Does OFP allow more than one sign on with the same ip? My Linksys router has the one public ip and my two computers are assigned private ips behind the router. I have not tried hosting a server yet.
