Server setup

Recommended Posts

Does anyone have an easy list of all the possible server variables that can be used? I've had a good search of the forums and all the sites I can find, but I can't find any mention of a lot of the settings that are hinted at in the version update lists.

Any help appreciated.

Go onto your Flashpoint disk, find server directory, there is a file DS-Admin.rtf - this has all the info you need.

I've found that already, I was wondering if there were additional commands that have been added since that document was written. Its almost unchanged since the first dedicated server release.

Parameters that are not in the latest dedicated server administrator guide:

MaxPlayers=<maximum_number_of_players>;  // maximum number of players on server

KickDuplicate=<true/false>; // Kick players with duplicate ID's

Thanks, thats exactly the sort of thing I'm looking for. To explain, I'm helping to set up some bookable game servers, and the more config options I have, the more options the booking players will have, as well as helping me to get them set up just right.

Two more:

MaxCustomFileSize=<size_in_bytes>;    // Users with custom face or custom sound larger than this size are kicked when trying to connect.

VoiceOverNet=<true/false>;    // Enable VON, only in DirectPlay (default = true)

Couldn't find any others that aren't mentioned in the manual.

Sounds interesting, the bookable servers. Will these be available for the general public?

Only bookable by members of Barrysworld (Å12 or Å24 a year depending on discounts), though anyone can play on a booked server. They are just in theory at the moment, it depends on if they can work with the software we use. Got a couple of members only public servers up just now, which have proved unexpectedly popular.:)

Sorry for the pimping, but you did ask. The servers are located in the UK.
