Qestion about low resolution cockpits of vanilla helos/aircraft.

Hey folks,

 

i was wondering why the vanilla helos and planes (including those from the helicopters dlc and apex) have really low res textures...to the point of illegibility. For instance, the canopy bars in the Blackfoot and Kajman are really bad. And in the latter you cannot read the top compass at all when zoomed in. Even the newer models from Apex like the Csat Vtol are concerned. The switch and button names in this cockpit are totally fuzzy. But its not across the board. The Neophron for instance, has fairly good and for the most part readable cockpit, even when zoomed in.

 

Some mods, like Nodunit and Franze's Longbow, the MELB and the F-37 Steath Thunder, have really great looking cockpits, everything readable and looking alright even fully zoomed in.

 

So whats your best guess then: are these vanilla assets of such low quality on purpose to make them less resource hungry or something like that, or is it just sloppy work? Might BI have created the textures at a higher resolution as a 'master file', but compiled the ingame model as low res for performance and memory limitations?
