theavonlady 2 Posted November 4, 2002 I've got a Dell C840 Lattitude, which includes a 64MB Nvidia GeForce 4 440 Go chipset. My night scenes appear in color, rather than in black and white. The FAQ says that any graphics adapter that supports DirectX Pixel Shader (1.0) and above, will display black and white night scenes in OFP. Does that mean that this chipset doesn't support DX Pixel Shader? Or maybe it does but it's disabled? I have Riva Tuner 2.0 but I cannot find any reference to a DX Pixel Shader option anywhere? Do any of you hardware geeks out there know?

advocatexxx 0 Posted November 4, 2002 Why would you want night scenes to be B&W to begin with ? With a Jeep passing by and its brake lights are just white instead of red ? That's silly... if anything colors appears so much more saturated at night than during the day... i.e. las vegas, fire in a pitch black forest, etc.

Anyway, I suggest you search the forums for "night" or whatever. This was much discussed and between color & B&W, the latter is usually more realistic. If you find the thread, post your arguments there.
advocatexxx 0 Posted November 4, 2002 K thanks, I'll search but I won't reply as the mods will no doubt lock it after I "reincarnate (is this spelled right?) a mummified thread"
GreyKnight 0 Posted November 5, 2002 I have just bought a Dell Inspiron 8200 with a 64Mb ATI Mobility Radeon 9000, this does support pixel shaders and everything else that a desktop card supports. I steered clear of the less powerful GeForce4 Go card because of this, it's well worth reading the technical blurb on the machine you're buying before you buy it!
