john_doe 12 Posted April 25, 2016 Hi guys! I'm trying to make a custom building, but the collision is a bit hard in Object Builder.. I'm using 3D Studio Max for making my Building model and then I import it in Object Builder. For testing purposes i'm just making a simple building with only one floor a doorway and some windows (all the windows and doorways are just empty "holes"). Now from my understanding i need to make "simple" shapes for the collision to work. I got it to work by deleting everything except my outer walls, but this ofcourse blocks the doorway and the windows. Now i am not really familliar with Object Builder (and actually im a bit scared of the program, because its not really user-friendly (form my point of view)) so i dont know how to make a "hole", in my collision "box", that is "convex".. I preffer to use 3D Studio Max for everything if that is possible... If anyone can point me in the right direction i would appreciate it :) Resources: <resolution> LOD (View is the same): http://prntscr.com/awrrcn Geometry LOD (Phys is the same): http://prntscr.com/awrs4j RoadWay LOD: http://prntscr.com/awrsmg 3Ds Max model: http://prntscr.com/awrt9e ~JohnDoe
PuFu 4600 Posted April 25, 2016 make things out of simple closed boxes, then convert these to components after OB import. For buildings the process is actually pretty simple. make sure you sort your 3ds max model smoothing groups
john_doe 12 Posted April 26, 2016 Thanks! I made it work by providing the convex shapes together with my main model. So i just delete the convex shapes in my resolution LOD and delete my walls and roof in my Geo LOD.
