For once, yesterday, I actually picked up a book. Its name was "No Price Too High: Canadians in the Second World War."

It has been collecting dust in my brothers book shelf for years now. Ever since we moved back to Canada from the United States.

I've been reading this book for awhile, and I have never been so damned pleased about the Canadian Military. Sure, I always had pride in the Canadian military since both my parents were in it, but never before have I seen the history of that military in the second world war.

I'm not really far, or should I say, barely started. But so far I'm pretty impressed on the article about Vimy Ridge(ww1). I was quite impressed as (I think I remember) the PPCLI came in and defeated a german position that the United States and British were taking forever to try and destroy. The strange thing about it is that the Canadian military did it very quickly and during a reinforcement.

I just have to say, that I'm damn proud to be a Canadian. How I'm glad that fellow Canadians spilt blood to save both Europe and Canada.

biggrin.gif God bless Canada.

One thing is for sure, a lot of nations contributed to wars and were essential for the outcome, and only a few of them are generally mentioned. Just look at the amount of Irish who fell in the wars and how little is written about them.

There are many "deceisive" battles in which relatively unfamous troops play a great role. Just take Stalingrad, do you know whose flanks of the axis army caused the Germans to be trapped?

Do you know who else fought for the americans in Vietnam and gave a certain boost to their performance?

I bet you people know more examples than me and I would be glad if you could teach me a few more! smile.gif
