Setting up and springing the perfect ambush!

Recommended Posts

Greetings again...

Here's the scenario: I have a platoon of U.S. soldiers walking on a road into a wooded area with all weapons slung on their backs... I have 5 VC hidden on one side of the road and 5 more VC on the other side (both looking towards the road), waiting for the platoon to come into their sights! Now here's the question:

How do I get the VC to wait until the last moment (i.e. the U.S. platoon point man is right in front of them and the entire platoon is wide open) to simultaneously open up with ALL guns blazing and mow down the entire platoon?? Would I need triggers? If so, how would I use them, etc.. please be detailed. Thanks

In other words, how would I go about setting up and springing up a PERFECT ambush??

I'm ASSUMING you would first place a waypoint(wp) with the Set Fire(or watever it is) to Hold Fire. Then make another waypoint witht he Set Fire as Open Fire, Engage at Will. Place a trigger between the 2 waypoints that has West Detected By East and then synchronize the trigger to both of the Open Fire Engage at Will wp's

Maybe Diagram Will Help...

Well, I don't know if this would do exactly what you want but give the VC a w/p right off the road and set it to NEver fire. Put ambush==1 in the condition. Then create a trigger that will be right in front of them. Set the activation to West and in the On activation field put ambush=1. Then give the vc another w/p in about the same spot as the 1st one and set it to Open Fire Engage at will. YOu could also not make a trigger and put the ambush=1 in a w/p of the people you want to get ambushed, right where you want the people to be ambushed.

Will work i tried it and didnt get eh effect your looking for. Maybe i set the "VC"  up wrong but i got one guy shootin them up and the US guys hittin the deck. So u will have to have them well well positioned and timed to get the PERFECT Kill em all at once effect your looking for.

Looks like I'll have to hide the VC REALLY well in order for them NOT to be spotted by the U.S. platoon memebers until its too late.

use the setcaptive true command on both groups. This way they dont start shooting each other until you set them to

setcaptive false. This can be triggered at the moment you want. This will keep you away from unwanted ai attacks.
