Konyak-2 0 Posted October 14, 2002 I was trying to figure out why my huge plane doesn't cast a shadow (I've done the LodNoShadow = 1 in named properties), and right now it doesn't cast a shadow when standing on the ground, but on takeoff, it will turn on briefly. Sometimes it will flicker on but mostly it's off. If I check for convexity on the lod that should cast the shadow, it's ok, but if I check for open topology, it has holes in it. If I do close topology to fix the holes, the convexity check lights up!.. Is this what is giving me problems?? I frankly don't get it, because one wing is fine, but if I copy it and mirror it, it will give me convexity errors on that one, while the original is oky-doky. Personally I would have thought an object is convex if you can draw a line between every other vertex and the one in the middle stays outside of the line in respect to the object. Jazzking 0 Posted October 14, 2002 I don't know much about shadows. But i've heard you can copy your model, turn it on its side and give it a black transparent texture. Sounds crazy i know. btw, what happens when "lodnoshadow" is 0? im sure 1 is true and 0 is false... depends i guess... If im wrong its coz im new hmm, i think i should have that as a sig... Prospero 1 Posted October 14, 2002 That is not correct. If your model is not casting a shadow, simplify the shadow casting LOD. You do not need to create some other object, or use particular textures. Prospero
