Unable to resume camapign or challange

Very often when I select to resume the campaign or challange I get an error message saying

Unable to load file incompatible version

I'm not sure but it seems that this problem arise when the saved game file is getting old. Irritating to often have to revert because my saved game isn't recognized.

I don't use any mods

this happens when game version changes/ game updates and you still save files from previous version.

So they blocked older save files to avoid unexpected bugs in mission.

When asked, remove old save files and just start mission from beginning.

This isn't something new, it was here for ages
