Vehicles/Munitions/Objects Using Scripts

How can I attach a script to a specific type of vehicle or munition, and which program would I use? I'm very new to modding, but I'm hoping I'll pick up some tips from this.

What I'm trying to do is use the already existing Nuke scripts (http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?170602-ArmA-III-Nuke-Script-Port-from-ArmA-II -- there are multiple .SQF components that were ported from A2 to A3) to create a bomb that I can place in the mission editor, as an empty object or vehicle, which will fall to the ground and then detonate on impact.

Any guidance, tutorials? This seems like it should be simple to learn.

You should start with mission scripting and branch out from there.
