Arma doesn't recognized savegames from Steam Workshop missions

Recommended Posts

Twice now I have been unable to Resume SP missions (Tank Hunters and Pilgrimage) that I subscribed to via the workshop.

I play the mission, I make some saves, exit Arma. When I come back, the saves are still in the folders, but the Scenario menu only offers me the option to Play the mission, rather than Resume or Restart.

The only workaround is to restart the mission, then manually move the savescummed file back into the mission folder (it gets deleted if you didn't make a copy beforehand) and then press Load.

TLDR; SP gameplay with the workshop is broken.

Twice now I've lost 3-4 hours of progress on a mission because of this stupid bug. Nothing brings out the angst like fucking with people's savegame.

Savegames often get corrupted after an update..., today we had an update.

Steam workshop missions may well be broken to begin with ..., published, then forgotten by the author.

Look for missions that have been revised & updated. Look for missions that have a feedback thread here.

Updates will often break missions also; mission makers will need to update then too.

This has nothing to do with corrupted savefiles and nothing to do with game or scenario updates.

These SP stop recognizing the existence of savefiles instantly and consistently, without any game or mission updates. It happened three times today with one mission. Every time I had a CTD, the issue appeared again.

I started save-scumming after each shutdown of Arma, and the savefiles are 100% fine. This proves that there is zero corruption going on.

This is a problem inside ArmA itself and its reading of workshop files. And because of the nature of the glitch, the devs should really be on this.

Using latest dev branch.

Yes, I had many such reports on Workshop in the past year and recently too. Thus I learned to advice for all Workshop Pilgrimage players to avoid Workshop version and ASAP switch to non-Steam pbo sources (Armaholic for example) instead. Additional advantage is the control over mission updates, that also makes saves not working anymore. It's against BI intentions, as I can see, to attract players to use Steam&Workshop ways, but sorry, I have to, if these ways are flawed and still not fixed... From my experience in current state Workshop is highly unreliable platform for playing (and finding) missions. This bug exist long time.

Supposed workaround from here:

"ivve managed to rig togeher a sort of solution. copy the save folder. start the scenario again, then save it in game. after that , copy the old saves back. then hit load, and you can see them"

Had this issue myself. Was not fun playing a mission all over again.

Glad to hear that it's a clear-cut issues, Rydygier. Is there a bugtracker ticket about it? I long ago lost my login info.

Frankly, after seeing once, what is happening on the feedback tracker (amount of unresolved tickets), I realized, it's pointless and lost whole interest in FT, so can't tell, if such ticket was made.
