A little ingame engineering question.

Hi,

I wonna make a mission that presents the life of 12 men. Here is how my mission should be, or how i want it to be:

1. Each man starts randomly in 1 of the towns of Nogova. With let's say $5.000 and a berreta.

2. They can go to a office where they can take jobs like: busdriver, police, pilot and so on. They will earn money every minute they drive, every thief they kill or every trip they make from 1 airport to another.

3. They can buy houses of the money they earn. And they will in those houses be safe. In those houses no one can shoot them or kill them. It's kinda u buy a safezone.

4. They will have to be able to buy cars and weapons and planes and other stuff from the money they earn on their work.      

5. They wil have to be able to shoot peeps when they are out of their houses and get the police on their back.

And so on.

Can anyone help me with these probs. 1 thing i'm not yet great with scripting so i need a easy explanation.

Actually I am suppost to eb creating the next version of this based on some suggestions and new code features, but I am still waiting until I can invest all the time and energy. (looking to cooperate with creative cutscene makers or good scripters)

The questions you are asking involve a complex mix of scripts.

Your first port of call will be OFPEC http://www.ofpec.com/

You need to look in the Editors Depot and get hold of the basic scipting tutorials, learn scripting. Look through the existing scripts archive there; you may be able to adapt some of them. As a project once you learn basic scripting expect to have a beta form up in 6 months if you can devote 16 hrs a week to the project.

If the 12 people are to be controled by AI it will also involve a mix of Neural Net and Expert system programming and it will be a far more demanding project. Aproximately Masters Degree or a first in a specialist degree in AI level. Go do the course or get the books and teach yourself, visit the websites and learn. As a project if the 12 people are to be AI the project will take aprox 9 to 18 months for a beta.

As to AI programming in OFP as far as I know there has only been work done by BIS or the team at CoC possibly the people at Coalescent Technologies may have done some work on this for VBS1 but I don't think they will make anything public.

There are a few indiviuals and MODs who may be able to help you but they are wrapped up in their own projects. Vectorbosson, Uiox, TheCaptain and The RocketMan. As to MODs: Real Time Strategy (RTS), Capture the Island (CTI) and The Chain of Command (CoC). There may be a few others and members of OFPEC and their forum would be worth a visit. They would be your first port of call but all of them are busy with their own projects. You will not uderstand the subject area and what people are talking to you about without a basic grounding in AI so if you have not done it get the books out and visit the websites.

Tnx for the tips but it's stupid to tell ya but i'm only 13 and not great in english so those tut's of ofpec are very difficult when the code samples are not in the tut but only in the download. That's all, btw i'm now reading the introduction to code snippets smile_o.gif
