wantafanta 13 Posted November 26, 2014 so i downloaded a bunch of images off google earth, stiched em together and everythings fine...but the shore around the island is kinda "meh" looking.. if anyone has a good method of cleaning up the coast in photoshop please let me know, im not that good with photoshop (getting better) so the satmap is taking way longer than it probably should have to complete Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
MiauX 10 Posted November 29, 2014 You mean cleaning the coast texture? Or aligning the coast to the actual heightmap coast. Because that would use two diferent thecniques. wantafanta 13 Posted December 2, 2014 i answered my own question with a bit more research... found a good website that has some tutorials on digital painting im going through right now.. i have a program that can download tiles from different map tile servers, and i can get the highest zoom level possible on google maps, but for the size of the map im planning out, it comes out to just under 1 million tiles that need to be downloaded... so im assuming i should go for one of the lower zoom levels to make it easier for myself.. but im not sure witch would produce the best end result/ easier to work with. bushlurker 46 Posted December 2, 2014 It depends on what the "zoom levels" in your downloading program equate to in terms of "altitude", but approx 100 meters altitude view works out at roughly a 1 meter/pixel image, which is pretty much the standard resolution for satellite layers.
