Kaliyuga 0 Posted September 20, 2002 Well.. it seems that my OFP:R doesn't like me anymore or something.... When I try to run OFP it starts to load.. but as soon as I see the BIS logo.. I crash to desk top... no warning.. no error message.. nothing... just CTD Now apart from making me start to hate that BIS logo screen .. LOL ... (by the way, how can we get rid of those splash screens in the beginning ?, I'm tired of waiting through it anyway) It is rather hard to run my mod if I can't play the game.... I tried 14 times yesterday to load OFP:R and only had one success
Mister Frag 0 Posted September 20, 2002 Usually when OFP or OFP:R just exit to the desktop without starting the game (and without displaying an error message), the problem is with the SafeDisc copy-protection code. AvonLady's Unofficial OFP FAQ has a couple of suggestions you can try.
Kaliyuga 0 Posted September 20, 2002 Well.. thanks for the lead.. but I tried searching the FAQ for safe disc, no luck.... also copy protection ... and copy + protection... All I can find on that FAQ that is even close has to do with direct X and that's not my prob.. already tried that route ... So.. please tell me what to search for.. or a link to the page would be nice also
Mister Frag 0 Posted September 20, 2002 Try searching for "desktop", or click on the links below: http://www.theavonlady.org/theofpfaq/trouble/ctd.htm http://www.theavonlady.org/theofpfaq/trouble/xpcompatibility.htm http://www.theavonlady.org/theofpfaq/trouble/xpupgrade.htm
OneStiffRod 0 Posted September 20, 2002 for no Splash screen (logo) do this... Create a shortcut on your desktop for OFP or if there is already one do the following... R-click the desktop shortcut -> select PROPERTIES -> goto shortcut tab and find the TARGET box-> if URL is in quotes just leave everything and add this after the quotes -nosplash The dash (-) w/ (nosplash) If target has no quotes you can just add the -nosplash looks like this: "C:\Program Files\Codemasters\OperationFlashpoint\FlashpointResistance.exe" -nosplash

Kaliyuga 0 Posted September 20, 2002 God what a nightmare.. I've read those.. done the Direct X thing, done the DMA thing... for both CD-Rom and HDD... so let me see here.. should I uninstall everything from my PC and then start with resistance seeing which programs it allows me to have on my computer? what a joke
OneStiffRod 0 Posted September 20, 2002 You said you have a MOD - maybe it messed up the original version by copying over a necessary file. Save all the Addon Folders, Mission Folders, and User Folders in a different place and then uninstall/re-install OFP-R. In a post by SUMA OFP LEAD PROGRAMMER - in this Forum it says that counterfeit copies of OFP-R will crash without warning and there is no support for those with counterfeit copies. When OFP-R is re-installed just copy the USER MADE missions, addons, and maybe your USER FOLDER into the OFP installation folder. AVOID OVERWRITING, anything that already exists in the OFP addon or mission folders should be left since OFP adds an encryption ident tag to the files during installation. OneStiffRod 0 Posted September 22, 2002 Also, if your MOD is not probably made, it will cuase your OFP to CTD. There is a Post somewhere here that explains this - try to remove the MOD files and try running OFP.
