MrMultiHavic 10 Posted October 5, 2014 Hello I am new to modeling and I have started working on the Vought F4U-1D. I would like to know how would you build the wings, for example do a make a separate object the join together or use the same object to create the wings and cockpit. same applying for the cockpit. oh and the flaps! Program using is Blender Pictures: side shot: http://imgur.com/eRQk55E 3D view: http://imgur.com/XmghSRt 3D view with wings 2 objects into one: http://imgur.com/29GUlNV
PuFu 4600 Posted October 15, 2014 You can have it either way: as a separate mesh or as a single welded mesh (the body and the fuselage). I actually prefer the things that are welded in real life to be kept as a single continuous mesh. All the things that are suppose to move and you'll have to animated later needs to be separate objects, or at least separate subobjects (such as flaps since you mentioned those). Rule of thumb when modelling: think about how things are done in real life, and recreate the process, or at least try to (with some obvious simplifications where needed)
