Will i need to reinstal?

Recommended Posts

ok well theres my problem wink.gif

I did keep the original config file but I cant remember where I put it so does this mean I will have to reinstal the original becuase resistance does checks to insure that a non edited config file is used??

You won't have to change anything as AFAIK - Suma has said that Resistance will install all the new stuff to new folders within the root OFP folder, as well as creating a new Resistance executable. Thus Satchel's soundpack will still work with the old OFP exe but not with Resistance.

Hopefully the new sounds will be good enough to make us forget about Satchel's (although they'll have to be GOOD to do that). smile.gif

If you had used *MY* installation of Satchel's SoundPack, you wouldn't have to worry about reinstallation smile.gif

I'm still waiting on recon as to whether the sound effects are Satchel quality or sub Satchel..

Satchel? Thoughts, sir?

Resistance won't check, as was said.

Can't you run Windows File Find and look for config.bin? confused.gif

Config.bin should be the original. Mine is 293,275 bytes long, last updated on Tuesday, March 05, 2002 3wow.gif8:48 PM.

Config.cpp is the soundpacks decrypted relacement for the Config.bin file.

So it sounds like you have everything in place!

So do I need to rename the one called "config" to "config.bin" then delete the one called "CONFIG.cpp"confused.gif

Don't you dare rename them!

You don't have to do anything. As it stands, you've got the sound pack's config.cpp overriding the original config.bin.

Your original question was "does this mean I will have to reinstal the original becuase resistance does checks to insure that a non edited config file is used?".

I already answered that OFPR doesn't make any such checks. Even if it did, your config.bin is in place.

So, what don't you understand?

Ive just installed OFPR and Satches Sound Pack doesnt work when I run the game from the new FlashpointResistance.exe. When I launch from the old OperationFlashpoint.exe (v1.46), the soundpack works fine...

I see that there is a new 'Res' folder that has its own BIN and AddOns folder. I tried to put the soundpack in there but the game wouldnt launch. I noticed that the new Res config.bin in the Res/BIN folder is a bit larget in filesize than the other v146 config.bin, so does this mean that Satchel (or someone else) is going to have to make an equivalnetly decoded config.cpp file for this config.bin so that it will work with the sound pack?

As I said, ive installed Resistance on top of my existing v1.46 which previously had the DynamicRange sound working perfectly. Have I just been unlucky, can others confirm that the Satchels sounds work in OFPR?

I commend BIS for trying to make some more realistic sounds for the guns etc. but I still think that Satchels are noticeably superior:)

Thanks,

BAM.
