How would I go about doing this?

Recommended Posts

Hey, everybody! I'm new to 3D modeling, meaning this is my first ever model. I decided to go for a Baretta 92FS. However, if any of you guys are familiar with this weapon, the bottom of the gun just passed the trigger guard is rounded. But I'm not sure how I'd go about making it rounded in Blender. Below are some pictures of the model as it is currently, you might not be able to recognize the model yet, but it'll get there.

As I said, it's my first model, go easy on a brother. But at the same time, I was constructive criticism, soooo. Tell me what you guys think I should do haha.

If it is the part you marked with the cursor, I would do it like this:

First make the rounding of the trigger guard in the top down view, which you already have, but I cant tell from the angle. then cut a line going all the way the length of the trigger guard, then grab the points of that line, one by one and pull them out a bit. You can also grab the whole line and drag it, but for more precision I went point by point on my example.

Also do not worry about being a newb. Everyone was a newb. It is a trained skill and with a bit of practice you will create high quality guns soon enough.

Oh shoot, why didn't I think of marking it? Unfortunately, it's not that. It's the flat part right in front of that.

See how the bottom of the gun, in front of the trigger guard is flat? It should be rounded.

For some reason sometimes when someone posts pictures on here, I can't see some of them so would you mind posting them on imgur or something? Sorry if it's inconvenient.

Okay, I have no clue why it's happening, but for some reason I can't see the last 3. But I think I know what you're saying. Just create a whole bunch of splits, then slightly angle them inwards?

Try copying the links in the browser, they work on my pc.

You make the cuts, then select the whole line and simply drag them straight down, forming a slight curve in the profile so that the top right side of the object (where the all lines end) form a "U" shape. do not angle them towards each other, just drag each line down straight
