Are PBOs necessary?

Recommended Posts

Hey guys,

for iteration reason I would save some time if I wouldn't need to pack my files into a new pbo every time I changed something in them. Would it be ok to start a game with just the files and without having them packed into a .pbo file?

game is configured to read something in a path. The game configuration files are sets to read pbo. So or you change all path in these configuration path (even if it's possible) or you just have to pack every time you change something ;)

You don't need to have the files in a .pbo, just have a folder with the same name in the same path containing the files.

What are you trying to run? Dedicated, listen, editor?

Dedicated server. It's a custom modification of one of the DayZ mods.

Well it should work, if you have DayZ.Chernarus.pbo in MPMissions, it should work with the same files in DayZ.Chernarus folder.

Make sure you don't start with this in the startup parameters: -noFilePatching

I'm not talking about the mission file. I am talking about the dayz_server.pbo. Basically about the server side addon file.

Ah that probably has to be as a .pbo. The signature check doesn't work otherwise.
