makhno 166 Posted June 6, 2014 Trees modeling Hello, I would like to create some trees for Arma, mostly to repalce outdated models and create new one as close as possible in quality to arma 3 ones. Mostly I'm thinking Jungle and Savanah/bush vegetation. The problem is I'm completely ignorant of 3D modeling (only made terrain creations untill now). So i'm asking for experienced modelers to point me in the right direction. I See extremely expensive software such as SpeedTree an Silvador, are they worth treir cost ? (Anyone ever used those ?) What are the more affordable alternatives (not necessarily free) ? Ngplants ? Blender ? Someone has an idea of the (very approximative) time required to create one tree from begining to integration in Arma ? Regards.
DerBiwi 10 Posted June 6, 2014 The only thing I know is, that in the ArmA I Sample Models are some type of Palms. But without Textures. How long it will durate?! After my own experience (I have not much) its durate so long, until you are happy with it. But what you have to do, if you want to make your own Trees: -Make the stomp and the mainbody -define the leafes (the most complicated part, take a look into the A1 and A2 Sample Models) But there are also some other addons, which are for A2, but they will also work with A3MP or AiA. However, I hope this information could help you a little bit at your way to become a 3D-Gardener :) Regards, Biwi
cavemanmods 1 Posted June 6, 2014 Blender is free. http://www.blender.org/ Tree tut for blender: http://cgcookie.com/blender/lessons/creating-a-tree-in-blender-part-1/ Note: The blender tutorials will create leaves in a way that does not suite Arma 3. The leaves and some branches are just planes with the textures of branches and leaves drawn on
