OUberLord 0 Posted July 13, 2002 Im not sure if this is Mission 4, but its the one where you start in a group of 9 with two t55s and a bmp at your disposal, and you must take a enemy outpost and a city. How the hell do you beat this? I can get past the outpost just fine, but the city is nigh on impossible since you cannot get anyone to fire. It always goes something like this Me: Target T55 Someone: (Insert Enemy) at (#) O'Clock Someone: (Insert Enemy) at (#) O'Clock Someone: (Insert Enemy) at (#) O'Clock Someone: (Insert Enemy) at (#) O'Clock ...and by this time my group can get off a shot the enemy tanks have already got around 5-6. Is there any way to force the gunner to shoot immediately, or tell the other group members to piss off so I can give an order? Also, at what point should you begin grenadiering the base? bn880 5 Posted July 13, 2002 Well... hmmm Make sure you tell your men Engage - Open Fire Engage - Engage (or Engage At Will) Target - (Your target) Also they have to be in visual range of the enemy tanks. You sohuld grenade the town to get rid of all the RPG launching soldiers.
GRaptor 0 Posted July 13, 2002 I'm having kind of the same problem right now. It's same mission but different problem. To fire right away, you can use manual fire. Just make the gunner aim at the target and then you can fire when your ready. That saves alot of time but doesn't totally fix it. I've saved it to a point where somehow they know that I'm attacking and the their crew have got in the tanks, therefore all of the tanks are operation which has to be like 5-10 tanks ranging from BMP's to T72's. The first time I got into a position to attack the town, I had lost a T55 and the remaining was damaged. I ditched the T55 and first went to scout the town. There was T72 patrolling and infantry but the tanks were all sitting there without anyone in there. I hadn't had much trouble with this game since the last mission where you have to steal the tanks. (By the way the Tasmanian Devil guy is getting on my nerves and I don't trust him at all). That mission ended up with having stolen one T80 in perfect shape, which I ditched because I didn't want to risk us being killed again. I'm playing this on Veteran mode by the way, which one are you using?
Hostile 1 Posted July 14, 2002 I think your main hassle is Mission 3, you should be able to get a T-72 and a T-80. move your tank up to the hill looking down on the town and start blasting with HEAT, then order your grenade fellas to start firing, once they've finished and are going in guns blazing send in your two tanks for support. switch to SABOT and start picking off tanks, there will be two tanks coming along the coast road to your north, make sure these are deal with quickly or they could cause a lot of grief. you think that's tough, the mission following that "the couter attack" is a peach!. OUberLord 0 Posted July 14, 2002 this mission is really pissing me off. So, the outcome of mission 3 influences mission 4? Took me about 20 tries to beat mission 3, no matter what you do you cant be stealthy about it and the entire castle comes rushing down. Guess ill revert back to it and try again, allthough Resistance is starting to piss me off....
Shifty 0 Posted July 14, 2002 Yeah I had the same problem so I reverted. Its worth it, I managed to start the mission with a t80 & a couple of t72s. For the mission "scrap" I found that using the sniper rifle on top of the hill behind the tanks works well, I managed to take out the the guards around the tanks, rpg men and machinegunners on the far slope. Sometime during which I called in the rest of my guys (I used plan A) which helped me deal with the remaining men coming down the hill.
GRaptor 0 Posted July 15, 2002 I beat the mission but in a strange but smart strategy. I went to sleep, leaving the computer on over night onthat mission so when I woke up it would be night in the game. The battle had died down with my two T55's being destroyed and all the Resistance dead. There were 3 T72s and 1 BMP left in the town with a few infantry. I went back to the outpost and got some RPG's and night vision for me and my medic. I returned to the forest to wait until the next day. When I came back it was night so I went to the town looking for some more RPG's. I avoided the tanks, killed some infantry and got two more RPG's. I know had 4 so I went to the top of a building where I would be safe and destroyed two T72's. Then I went looking for more RPG's, killing the remaining infantry on the way. I got 3 more RPG's and destroyed the remaining T72 and BMP .
TMN 0 Posted July 15, 2002 It helps a lot if you get all 3 T72s and the T80 from mission 3. Go alone to clear out the base. When you get near the base, radio for the reinforcements to come. Then kill the 5 guards at the base quickly. Hop into the leftmost T72 as gunner, load HEAT, and shoot at the enemies running down from the castle. After a couple shots, your group should arrive. Order them all into the tanks. Tasmanian Devil will radio about the incoming tanks. Order everyone to move to the waypoint. On your way there, you'll encounter a T72 and a BMP. They aren't too hard to eliminate. You won't encounter any more enemies after that.
swj38 0 Posted July 16, 2002 For misson 3 I sniped from behind the tanks, I got rid of the guards and took out AT soldiers and crew before they got to their vehicles. I'd ordered my men in after I'd taken out the guards. I got in a T80 to and cleaned up the remaining soldiers before the rest of my squad arrived. After that we did a little scavenging and madw our way back to the base. The Russian armour that turns up isn't a problem. For misson 4 I found it best to order the grenades in just before I reached the base. Most of the tank crews were dead before I got there just a couple of tanks and a little infantry left. I got in the BMP-2 for cleaning up as they are so cool
