Game Crashes: Insufficient Quota

Recommended Posts

I own ArmA II, ArmA II: OA, and DayZ Standalone. All of these games, and these games only, crash constantly. They are literally unplayable. I open the game up, and as soon as I start loading it, it freezes and crashes and gives me an error saying "Insufficient quota to complete the requested service." It's extremely annoying because I payed good money for these games and I can't play them. This happens only while playing these games and I can't find a solution anywhere. I'm not able to play more than a couple minutes if I'm lucky. PLEASE FIX THIS OR HELP!

Specs:

GPU: MSI Radeon R9 270X 2GB

CPU: AMD FX-6300 6-Core

RAM: Vengeance Black DDR3 8GB

HDD: Western Digital Caviar Black 7200RPM

OS: Windows 7 64-Bit

This is a fairly new computer.

Insufficient data. It isn't likely to be a game problem, much more probable it has something to do with your system.

Have you checked the Windows error logs? - if the error code is 1453 the cause is insufficient resources; if it's 1455 your pagefile is too small; etc.

There's a convenient list of Windows system error codes here.

Or you could have disk quotas set for the account you are using which are too small. Unless you have a multi-user system on a network, quotas are best turned off IMHO.

Post the error log enty/entries here.

I think I have the 1453 error. I installed all these games on steam and nobody else seems to have the problem im having, so why cant I play it?

"Think"? What does the error log say? (probably under "Applications", might be under "System" instead/as well). Please post it.

If you are running with the default Win 7 install, you may have a lot of irrelevant services running. The multimedia services in particular are notorious resource hogs.

There's a list of Window 7 services on Black Viper's site, & information about which may be safely turned off. Go for the least services you can ("bare bones") when gaming, ArmA games are CPU-hungry as well as CPU-heavy. The less MS & other junk running, the better. Also, try running Gamebooster from IOBit (freeware). This will switch off unecessary services and processes while you are gaming & turn them back on afterwards. It's customisable, so set it up in conjunction with the recommendations from Black Viper. You can use it to switch off all the updaters, calling-home software, etc., which every 3rd-rate programmer & his dog seems to want to clog your PC with these days. (I don't run any auto-update s/w - I check manually once a week for OS & core programs, just monthly for the rest unless I see a security alert).

Some AV programs are also very resource hungry. If you're playing SP offline, you don't need AV, HIPS or sandboxes running.
