ipatjo 10 Posted November 19, 2013 Hey guys, I'm buying a new pc. Which one of these builds do you guys think will run ArmA 2 and 3 best? i5 build: i5 4670k 3.4 ghz Radeon r9 290 4GB 8GB DDR3 ram amd build: AMD FX-6300 3.5 ghz Radeon r9 290 4GB 8GB DDR3 ram I guess the only difference is that in one build I will have a AMD and in the other a intel CPU, they will have different motherboards and stuff ofcourse but the AMD build is much cheaper. I have read however that a i5 will do WAY better in the ArmA-games than a AMD CPU. Is that true?
byku 13 Posted November 19, 2013 I5 build... by MILES! In Arma Intel>AMD always... and... I5 4670k is miles ahead of FX-6300 so there is no discussion about that. And yes, in Arma CPU is more important than GPU.
xXxatrush1987 10 Posted November 19, 2013 remember on complex simulations the fx6300 hexacore gets a fx triplecore due to the medule design. so no just go for the more beefy i5, the i5 consumes less power stays cooler ,etc, etc. no need to buy amd cpu unless you render movies or have no money. ipatjo 10 Posted November 19, 2013 Thanks for the responses. I will go with the i5 build then!
NeuroFunker 11 Posted November 19, 2013 corei5 2500k clocked at 4,5ghz, stable with aircooling and quit silent. Can play arma 3 on ultra without trouble.
dnk 13 Posted November 20, 2013 Byku got it. You're also at the high frequency end of your respective architecture, which is important.
