hekuball 10 Posted November 8, 2013 Hi folks My experience with Arma 3 multiplayer so far has been a mixed one. I did manage to have one good game (alas cant remember the server or game mode) where I was just basically trying to stick with team mates and see what they were doing and it was great fun, just riding along in a plane or the back of a truck. My problem is, I dont really understand the modes or what you are required to do half of the time. Every time I look for a mission brief, there generally isnt one. I do look at the map and have an idea of the next objective to attack but sometimes get confused with the map symbols and markings and ultimately when i get to the area of attack there doesnt seem to be a way of finding out what area to hold or where specifically to attack etc. ARMA is fairly new to me, I've spent most of my time playing Red Orchestra over the years and the modes are fairly strightforward and victory conditions and objectives are obvious. So a bit lost really. Can anyone give me some advice or point me to a good document on the various mp modes such as king of the hill and CTI and Domination and their victory conditions/main strategic objectives? Thanks
Brown.Sauce 10 Posted November 8, 2013 Hey there. Im not sure if there is an official document like a wiki for such things, but you can find nearly all mentioned game types and more here @ http://www.armaholic.com/index.php The site is the main hub for all (most) user made content in arma, and all missions will have a description or conditions to play listed, you can find them all by clicking on the armaholic link above and going to Downloads > Arma 3 Files > Arma 3 Scenarios. Hope this helps.
hekuball 10 Posted November 8, 2013 Thanks, actually I found some useful descriptions on a couple of the game modes such as CTI and Blitzkrieg in there although it is definitely designed with the experienced Arma player in mind.
ratszo 17 Posted November 8, 2013 First, welcome to arma. The important thing is to note the name of the server you're on so you can find it again and others like it using the browser filter. Then you can find more server info here: http://arma3.swec.se/server/list The group running the server may have a website, teamspeak, and allowed mods. You'll figure the modes out as you play. Good Luck!

Good Luck! Thanks for the list, pity the in-game server browser doesnt let you view recently visited servers or favorite ones you like. I wonder can you recommend a good server for public but team oriented pvp? The quickest way to get a taste of Arma 3 pvp is Wasteland but I cant abide it so I'd rather learn on an easygoing pvp server with structured missions. Im UK based, btw. ratszo 17 Posted November 8, 2013 I've been playing the [EUTW] teatime server lately. Capture-the-island, CTI, is the mode. Good maps, Attack & Secure style gameplay. http://arma3.swec.se/server/data/24861 They allow the SoS sound mod and sthud. Keep an eye out for an upcoming mod called "Tactical Battlefield": http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?163550-Tactical-Battlefield-A-PvP-Gameplay-Modification I'm really looking forward to this release.
