What is IDF Europe?

IDF Europe is a new upstart in the Arma 3 community. Formed by four friends (Lloyd, Matt, Anthony and Owen) who collectively have years of experience with Arma 2 and similarly themed titles, IDF Europe aims to create a fun and engaging virtual Israeli army for you to enjoy. Disillusioned with the futuristic aesthetic and equipment of the most recent iteration in the Arma franchise, but in awe of the enhancements made to the engine and opportunities for immersive gameplay, we have departed from the Vanilla offerings of Arma 3 and taken advantage of the IDF mod and the vast array of Israeli equipment, vehicles and weapons found within the game in order to create a realistic, modern day faction. Our website can be found at http://idf-europe.co.uk/ and we play in GMT 0.

What experience can I expect as a member?

Our clan seeks to attain a balance between the social facets of clan life, and the realism generally expected of a semi-professional Arma group. We have created a framework which allows for a welcoming social experience with banter both in and out of ops, without compromising on the rigor of our procedures and efficiency of our operations. After only a brief stay in the clan, you will quickly become familiar with the situations in which joking is acceptable, and indeed encouraged, and those in which a serious temperament must reign supreme. Ultimately, we wish to create a fun, but realistic experience, in which one doesn’t compromise the other. For example, if a particular tactic is employed in real life, but would only serve to enhance the enjoyment of 1 or 2 people in the clan, it would not be implemented; we recognize that Arma, in the end, remains a game, and games must be enjoyable.

What Roles are available?

IDF Europe operates within the framework of an Israeli infantry unit, supported by an air detachment, as well as armour when the numbers allow for it. Upon joining the clan and completing the two part training program which places emphasis on initiative, you are ready to become an IDF infantryman. There are range of roles within the Infantry including rifleman, machine gunner, medic and grenadier. IDF Europe also prides itself upon its ability to locate new commanding talent, so if you feel yourself capable of leading, but find the structures of other clans to obtuse, IDF is more than accommodating. The Air Corps welcomes candidates of all skill levels, but expects that prospective pilots learn the skills they need quickly during the training program. After completing an initial test to asses potential, candidates will be put through a training program to ensure that procedures are known, and initiative is engendered so that quick, life or death decisions can be made. As spaces in Air Corps are limited, only the most promising candidates will be selected at the end of the training program. As time progresses, we will be looking into setting up an Armoured Corps. We are looking at implementing this once we are getting around 2 and half squads per operation. If this is what you want to do within the clan, please bare with us during the months it may take to establish, test and write procedures for it.

What will I need to play?

In addition Teamspeak to facilitate voice communication, to play with us you will require a small number of mods including ACRE, IDF mod and TMR to enhance the overall realism of game. These mods offer realistic recoil, sway, scope reticles, radio communication and equipment. All of these are included in our IDF addons pack, so there is no need to trawl the internet in search of them. In addition, to simply the task of switching mod framework, we have a technical advisor on hand (Anthony) so should you run into any trouble, help is at hand.

How do I join?

At this early stage, all prospective recruits are asked to apply on our forums. After this application has been posted without further delay or response to your application, you are welcome to join our Teamspeak at this address 85.236.100.27:10477 where you shall speak to a recruiter. This discussion seeks to iron out any concerns a candidate may have about the clan, and quite simply to get to know him a bit. If no one is on Teamspeak at the time of your visit, the application you sent will at some time receive a response asking you when it is best to have this talk. In addition, a steam user by the name of Struggle (Lloyd) will have sent you a friend request with the information you have provided in your application.

Upon successful completion of this interview, you will be guided through the initial phase of setting up mods, and arranging a time to complete your two part training course.

We look forward to seeing you.

IDF Europe.

November 24th update:

Since last we've many news. Our membership numbers have increased by around 5-6 new players, and we look forward to many more.

We have started looking at additional mods to use, e.g. the Koplic map by F.S.F Makhno, and the F/A-18 Super Hornet mod by John Spartan & Saul, to add to our fixed wing aircraft and different locations for missions.

We have also set out on our Operation Belic campaign, which will take us all around Altis in what has so far turned out to be a genuinely exciting and very joyful series of missions.

If you are interested in seeing more of our clan, or for that part being part of the coming videos, and more so, the story behind them all, lose no time in applying at our website!
