Why is the AI so broken when it comes to helicopter dogfights?

Try spawning yourself in one chopper, the enemy in another, both flying with x amount of distance between you.

As you approach the enemy chopper, it will turn towards you, maybe do a gun run and then continue going straight in that direction until it runs out of fuel or gets shot down.

Waypoints make no difference, the above scenario will play out without fail almost every single time.

If you chase it, it runs. Wait and it comes back. You can also allowfleeing false.

Doesn't work

No amount of playing around with the allowfleeing option has any effect on the behaviour of the AI

Have brought down many a Kajman with a trusty Mohawk.

When it gets into that "flee" mode and goes straight, follow and get high on its 6. Then descend slowly at speed and "land" on its main rotors.

The Kajman rotors will stop and the Mohawk will sustain minor hull damage at worst.
