3 Commando Brigade :: An Upcoming Realism Unit :: UK (18+)

Recommended Posts

YAYnxU8.png

A Brief Introduction

We are primarily a military realism unit. We play using military style tactics, procedures, and structure to provide an enjoyable and engaging experience. In order to delegate certain responsibilities effectively we use a practical ranking system (but don't worry, you won't have to call us by our rank or call us "Sir"). We're looking for eager recruits to enlist, regardless of your current skill level (training will soon sharpen you up).

What We Want

We're an upcoming realism unit and we need as many eager recruits as we can get. To become the tactical gaming clan that we aspire to be, we need more people like you. However, we do have a few minimum requirements that must be met in order to enlist:

- You own a working microphone and Teamspeak 3 is installed.

- You are willing to work as a team

- You can attend operations/training sessions at least 3-4 hours a week

- You are at least 18 years of age

- You can't wait to join

Events Every Weekend

We play operations every Sunday at 7pm UK local time which last approximately 2 hours. To keep our events fresh and interesting, we play both co-operative (vs AI) and team-vs-team matches.

Meet The Requirements?

To enlist with the 3 Commando Brigade simply visit our website or hop on Teamspeak anytime to chat with us. You can also find us on our Public ArmA 3 server (filter for "3CB").

Operation Urban Locker - 24NOV2013

The cooperation and teamwork on tonight's op between all sections was absolutely superb. Well done to Alpha, Bravo, Sierra, Hotel, and Foxtrott. We managed to complete around 1/4 of the operation - if you didn't manage to make the op tonight we will be continuing the mission next week. Looking forward to it!

Quoting Serjames "One of the best ops I've done in a long time".

Public Server Reawakening

It's been a while since the public server has been updated, so we decided it's about time we gave it some love. I'm sure by now that everyone has started to get fed up with the Mediterranean island that is Altis - it's time we give our home a new look…

Introducing - Takistan. Currently Takistan is the default map on the server, however we'll be adding Zargabad and Chernarus to the rotation in the future. The map isn't the only thing that has changed, we're now running ALiVE - the excellent mod that creates astonishing large-scale dynamic battles. Be warned - the AI are not easy to beat.

Despite the mod requirements we've already had a few pubbies on the server, one of which immediately applied to join us. It appears ALiVE and A3MP are starting to become standard - things are looking up!

To see the mods you need click here.

See you on the server,

Goodson

Latest Operation

OPERATION FADER II - SUN 1930 05JULY2015

SITUATION UPDATE

After the events of FADER I and the successful efforts of NATO forces to gain a foothold in the north eastern region of Altis (resulting from the taking of key towns that were under the control of militia forces), a multinational team of engineers began work on the construction of Main Operating Base (MOB) Athena on the Almyra Salt Flat, to provide a secure location from which operations can be launched. This MOB will now be the staging area for all future British operations on the island. However the Khe Sanh Expeditionary Strike Group remains offshore and the USMC will continue to provide support when needed.

As well as MOB Athena, a number of Patrol Bases have also been built on key routes used by NATO forces providing secure, defensive locations for infantry to conduct patrols from in hostile areas. These bases will also function as field hospitals to provide a nearby location for the treatment of casualties that have sustained injuries in the area local to them. Patrol Bases along the route from MOB Athena to Pyrgos are running low on supplies, and a Combat Logistic Patrol (CLP) will soon be heading out on this route to resupply them. However, locals have reported the sighting of possible IED's in 3 areas on the route, with at least one confirmed in each. Because of this, an IEDD (Improvised Explosive Device Disposal) Team will be sent out along with a REST (Royal Engineer Search Team) to locate and disarm these IEDs, enabling the CLP to pass through safely en-route to the Patrol Bases. 3 Commando Brigade will be providing elements of Whiskey Company (W Coy) from 45 Commando RM to act as the infantry escort. These IEDs are not believed to have been left there unattended; militants have been seen close to the towns recently so there is reason to believe they are plotting ambushes on NATO forces passing through them.

The majority of ISMENA forces in the north eastern region have been killed or forced out, and their front lines have been pushed back. The enemy front lines or FLET (Forward Line of Enemy Troops) are now approximately 2KM east of Altis International Airport and as little as 1KM south of Pyrgos. Although the militia presence is now reduced in the north east, security is not as high as was hoped for and small pockets of militants remain in the region. The small-sized NATO force on the island is having to focus the majority of its personnel and other assets on continuing to push the militias FLET back to the south and west, and this has made it possible for fighters to re-infiltrate into some areas that they had previously withdrawn from.

MISSION

Route Clearance for a Combat Logistic Patrol. IED's have been reported by civilians in three areas on the route.

1 Troop - Escort and provide security for IEDD and search teams on a route clearance operation.

2 Troop (if applicable) - Escort and provide security for IEDD and search teams on a route clearance operation.

Brimstone - Search team will conduct search of the vicinity of reported IEDs, and will report their findings to the IEDD team. IEDD team will move in to disarm the reported IEDs and any others found. The technician that disarmed the IED(s) should return to the marked area in the MOB to deliver it to forensics. This could have an impact on future operations, as information such as the identity of the maker or its area of origin can be ascertained from forensic analysis.

Tricky - Provide extra level of medical assistance to ground forces and CASEVAC to patrol bases if needed.

Zulu - Provide transport for REST and IEDD team, as well as Fire Support for ground forces.

Vortex - Provide air transport and logistics flights from MOB Athena. This will include initial insertion of W Coy and any subsequent reinforcement/supply drops. Possibly CASEVAC if required.

MOVEMENT PLAN/COMMANDERS INTENT

Phase 1 (Insertion): W Coy will be inserted into the AO by helicopter and be dropped off at the given HLS. Brimstone will travel in a FV510 Warrior and will RV with W Coy to the east of Rodopoli.

Phase 2 (Route Clearance): W Coy (on foot) and Brimstone (Warrior) will proceed on the marked route through Rodopoli, Charkia and finally Pyrgos; the three areas are designated Yellow 21, Yellow 22 and Yellow 23 respectively. The REST will locate any IEDs, pass this information on to the IEDD team who will then go in and attempt to disarm them, while W Coy provides security to both teams and the vehicles.

Phase 3 (IED Forensic Analysis): It is very important that if any IEDs are successfully disarmed, the person that disarmed it (and therefore has it in their possession) takes it to the office marked in the MOB for forensic analysis. This may be done at any point during the operation if the commander so wishes (i.e. once an IED is disarmed, the ATO or whoever disarmed it can return straight to base with it before continuing with the mission).

Note: It MUST be the person who disarms the IED that does this. It is impossible to hand over the IED to anybody else as it will not be a physical object once picked up. Also, if the person "in possession" of the IED dies, they will no longer have it.

THREATS AND OTHER INFORMATION

Enemy strength: Infantry strength in the region is still unknown however it is lesser than it was 5 months ago during FADER I. Militia forces do not control the towns on the route but neither do NATO forces, and they have been left in the hands of a weak Altis Police Force. For this reason expect contact at all times once out of the MOB.

Munitions: An array of soviet era weaponry with some western weapons mixed in; generally what has been seized from military and police forces both in the Middle East and Africa and here on Altis. Mortars and other artillery pieces are also in operation and have been used to devastating effect. They were the cause of mass casualties and multiple fatalities to NATO forces during FADER I.

IED: We know now that IEDs are in widespread use on the island and the militia are targeting everybody including civilians with them.

Suicide attacks: They have been used against military, government and civilian targets preceding this operation. As predicted, the frequency of suicide attacks as well IED ambushes increased once coalition forces arrived. Members of Alpha Company 40 Commando RM suffered mass casualties during FADER I when a bomber detonated a charge in close proximity to an infantry section in Paros on the 24th of June 2020.

Anti-Air: What is believed to have been the main focus of the ISMENA AA threat on the island was wiped out months ago during FADER I. It is expected that what remains are primarily shoulder-launched MANPAD weapons although we cannot be certain of this.

Civilians: Civilians inhabit the towns. The majority still favour the intervention by NATO despite multiple casualties and fatalities during the operation to take Paros and Kalochori, which saw at least 2 groups of civilians attack British infantry sections clearing the towns. However, the situation remains the same; if a number of them are killed due to attacks by friendly forces, either by being directly fired upon or through collateral damage, then this could change and coalition forces will be once again subject to attacks from civilians. For this reason PIDing and ROE is of the utmost importance. This is a difficult enough situation as it is without the civilian population turning against us.

Important: If any civilians are close by to IEDs that are being disarmed or ammo caches that are being destroyed, they must if possible be restrained and led away from the area. Any civilian deaths will contribute towards a death toll which when high enough will possibly lead to civilian attacks on NATO forces. It is recommended that once the REST has conducted the search for IEDs, that they cordon off the area along with a group of infantry, and prevent any civilians getting close to the IED by restraining them and escorting them away if possible.

Civilians have been warned about their use of firearms in close proximity to NATO forces and the incidents that have occured recently. For this reason any armed civilians that are close to you may be considered a threat and dealt with accordingly.

NOTES ON COUNTER IED MEASURES

Establish and confirm the presence of a device. This is to be done from a safe location with maximum use of distance. You should not move closer to the device unless absolutely necessary as observation can be achieved with the use of optics such as binoculars and weapon scopes.

Ensure you are constantly aware of the possibility of secondary devices.

Inform the rest of your callsign and other callsigns in the area of the presence of the suspected item.

Evacuate the area as quickly as possible. Move to a minimum distance of 50 - 100 meters from the suspect

item.

Move people away from the device and not past it.

Clear an area (area size decided by commander)

Make maximum use of hard cover, and ensure personnel are out of the direct Line of Site (LOS) from the suspect area to cleared positions. If cover cannot be obtained, maximize distance from the device.

OWN FORCES ASSETS

Helicopters (transport and logistics): RAF Merlin HC3, Chinook HC4. A Ridgeback MRAP will be manned by a medical team of up to 4 men that will travel with the company to assist in any emergencies. An FV510 Warrior will be used for fire support and transport of the REST and IEDD team.

OTHER NOTES

Time and Weather

Start time: 0730 Local - 0530 Zulu

Cloudy with low-level fog. Poor visibility.
