Multiplayer - What is going on???

Recommended Posts

Hello.

I run a 80 slot ARMA3 server. We've had the server since Alpha, through Beta to final release. The server runs Wasteland, the Magnon flavor of the mod. We work closely with the Mods' developer, aka Mainfrezzer.

Our community is called Exodus-UK, we've always aimed to provide the best environment for public players through sourcing, in our opinion, the best mod scripts and running a fairly moderated server. During the beta our Stratis server was ranked 4th on Gametracker, the most popular Wasteland server on ARMA3.

Through the Alpha and Beta we had to put up with the numerous issues till you finally got Stratis running sweet, on top of that there were the numerous idiot hackers we had to contend with, our banlist ended up with over 300 manual bans listed, but all of that was OK, it was Alpha / Beta, an open development phase.

We never expected Altis to be 100% perfect on final release, but we did expect something that ran as well as Stratis did towards the end of the beta. What we've got now is terrible, Multiplayer on Altis is shocking.

Battleye is constantly culling upto 30 players of the server at a time for failed steam ticket check, players reconnect then then get kicked again 10 minutes later.

You fire a Titan at a vehicle and your game freezes not to mention all the other bugs.

It's great saying we'll hotfix this, next patch that, etc, but for all your loyal customers that have supported the game since the Alpha and everyone else who has parted with their money to play what could be the best sandbox fps ever we are feeling more than a bit let down.

It feels like the were still in Beta, at the moment it feels like your lying to say the words 'final release'.

Multiplayer is broken beyond belief, so much frustration for us server owners.

Loyal players are laying down their weapons too go and play the BF4 beta because ARMA3 is so buggy and currently almost unplayable on player vs player multiplayer servers.

We payed for the game, we pay to rent servers every month, we want to play... but we can't, cos you've not got your act together yet.

These past few weeks, this past week since the first patch especially have been so frustrating. Grrrr it makes me rage.

Whats going on? When can we expect an acceptable playable environment? Do you even care about multiplayer gamers or would your prefer everyone chases round shouting AI bots on single player? Wake up and smell the coffee please.

I love Arma. But at the moment I hate ARMA. I want to love it again.

I agree with your "concerns":

Especially the horrible multiplayer performance regarding low gpu fps on high end systems, lack of player movement responsiveness (better than A2), lack of game content & features, stuttering, slow object drawing and low fps even in empty editor again on high end system and how the developers ignore player feedback and deny the quite reasonable suggestions/demands (e.g. bipod use) and bug reports ( http://feedback.arma3.com/plugin.php?page=Vote/list_bugs ). I have played this series from OFP to now A3, and it has been a story of giga bugs/crashes/low fps/lag and yet we kept playing and waiting for patches because we love the game's vastness and freedom, but I must say that A3 is pushing my patience further yet again and I don't play much anymore (also getting other RL interests as one gets older, so my gaming has to be more problem free and smooth when I do it, enter BF4), A3 just feels so 'empty' and as a paying customer it feels even less good. This game series is a story of problems and lack of the obvious and it will never end(12+ years), because I begin to doubt that the proper resources(talent/funding) are allocated to this project anyway. Arma2 still suffers from degrading client (gpu) fps as a function of joined server time, which a game restart/rejoin or alt-tab will "fix" for a period of time, as an example of the (many) problems plaguing A2 mulitiplayer and patching never fundamentally addresses many of these issues, because they are connected to the game engine itself :( Yet I look forward to patching and DLC to see where it will bring the game :) but from more distance in the future.
