KiCk@--y 0 Posted August 16, 2002 Hey guys! I don't think this is the right forum to do this, it's not even so related to Operation Flashpoint. But i'm asking, is there a simple way to set up a proxyserver? I want to play operation flashpoint over the Internet, but the only computer connected on my LAN that has internet is the old one. ( pentium I ) 48 mb ram, ya know! Bye all!

Bye all!<span id='postcolor'> Yes, the best way is to install Windows XP and 2 network cards in one machine. Then bridge the connections. You will be amazed with how much freedom that will give you. EDIT: Might need 64MB ram. not
schaef2000 0 Posted August 16, 2002 there is no way XP will run on that machine. you need at LEAST a 200 mhz processor and 128 RAM MINIMUM. XP uses 128 RAM just to run the OS. It will page constantly. you might get it loaded, but it won't be at all usefull. you could use ICS (internet connection sharing) in Window 98se or windows 2000. both would run on that machine. win2k you'd need 64 ram. bn880 5 Posted August 16, 2002 As long as XP loads it will be a great server... I am presuming he will not be using it to play or anything, just serve. I never checked the Minimum for XP, let me do so. EDIT * PC with 300 megahertz (MHz) or higher processor clock speed recommended; 233-MHz minimum required; * Intel Pentium/Celeron family, AMD K6/Athlon/Duron family, or compatible processor recommended * 128 megabytes (MB) of RAM or higher recommended (64 MB minimum supported; may limit performance and some features) * 1.5 gigabyte (GB) of available hard disk space.* * Super VGA (800 × 600) or higher resolution video adapter and monitor * CD-ROM or DVD drive * Keyboard and Microsoft Mouse or compatible pointing device and BTW, you do not have to have a 800x600 monitor
bn880 5 Posted August 16, 2002 Windows 98 SE is your next bet with ICS. But ICS is mostly a piece of doodo. It will let you play LAN games very well.
KiCk@--y 0 Posted August 16, 2002 Hey! hold on a minute. The computer that is connected on the internet isn't the one where i am running flashpoint on. It's my pentium III who is connected with the 48 MB ram computer I also already installed a network, 100 bps ethernet network cards. It's stupid! i know i have to explain things better! Â Sorry, thanks for the advices, but the old one has windows 95 Â so i need to use a program like Proxynet. But i didn't really understood it.
schaef2000 0 Posted August 16, 2002 just a thought, how hard would it be to make the computer your runing flashpoint on the internet computer? if it's running flashpoint it should run any OS mentioned.

Most of your communication problems will disappear! Although you will not be able to host hames on client machines, this is because you create a local IP for your client machines 192. Maybe there is away to get around that but I don't practice it.
bn880 5 Posted August 17, 2002 Forgot to mention, you will be able to serve Internet games on the machine that is connected to the Internet directly, letting others and you play together.
