Arma 2 OA has stopped working on startup

Hello,

I recently ran into some problems with my Combined Operations. Everytime I try to start it, no matter how (Steam, Launchers, .exes, .bats), it crashes after 3 ticks on this loading thingy. Can someone help me?

Windows 7 Ultimate x64

Core 2 Quad Q6600 @ 2.50 Ghz

4 GB RAM

GTX 280

From a quick glance you are trying to load A3 mods into CO:

Warning Message: Addon 'cba_xeh_oa' requires addon 'CA_CommunityConfigurationProject_E'

Warning Message: Addon 'ST_STHud' requires addon 'A3_UI_F'

Warning Message: Addon 'ST_STHud' requires addon 'A3_Data_F'

Warning Message: Addon 'ST_STHud' requires addon 'A3_UIFonts_F'

Three things to do:

- delete the RPT so CO can write a new one;

- run the Steam "verify" tool;

- start the game - vanilla, not beta - without any mods at all.

If the game crashes, post the RPT in a spoiler.

appears to have loaded successfully. Is that correct? - no mods loaded except possibly the beta (I'm not a Steam user).

I tried launching it but it crashes again, even with files validates and without mods nor beta. Somehow, a new RPT wasn't created. Any other suggestions? In steam it just doesn't start and the exe's stop working. Starting with Spirited Machine Launcher does the same as Steam. Nothing.

Okay, I figured it out... It was something named dsound.dll in my Arrowhead directory. It was part of a mod, no idea why it was crashing my OA...

Ah, good. Addons or other extraneous content in the game folders can seriously screw up the game. AFAIK that's a DX9 file; maybe a glitch when Steam installed?

Okay, I figured it out... It was something named dsound.dll in my Arrowhead directory. It was part of a mod, no idea why it was crashing my OA...

Dsound.dll was used for older versions of ACRE and other addons to establish communication with other software.

Alright, thanks for telling me. No idea why I had it. Maybe it was still there from one of my old versions of ACRE.

You are using the "@mod" folder method for addons rather than putting them in the game folders, I hope?

Just checking, because as noted putting addons in the game folders can screw up the game (the @modname method is safe & reliable). I was (am) puzzled how that dll got into the main game folder (I don't use ACRE).
