comp_uter15776 1 Posted August 1, 2013 St0rm.net is renewing its ArmA section starting with ArmA 3, totally starting from scratch but employing some of the favourite core principals that made us so popular. We currently have a dedicated server for ArmA 3, based in the US, with room for expanding to the EU should we grow large enough to warrant this. The server runs custom game modes/missions made by members of St0rm. Our squad is based off of a UK structure, with our own special twist. We are hoping to host training and mission events often. Actual roles are extremely flexible, but these are detailed lower down this thread. As far as seriousness levels are concerned, we are looking for new or old players to co-operate, able to communicate effectively (via TeamSpeak 3) in English, willing to have a good time in the process and play it out fairly realistically, but without the nonsense that doesn't apply to ArmA. Naturally there are times when the guys will want to let off steam, and rest assured we'll plug in some "fun" events, as well as festive ones when the times are right. St0rm plays: Warfare/CTI COOP TvT Sector Control AAD/AAS These maps will also be hosted on our server for training and missions. A basic schedule will be put into practise soon, for now it will most likely go something like this (remember, you aren't forced to attend): Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays: Public nights, open to all (including non-members). We'd host a variety of not-so-serious missions on this day, rotating it round to give every gamemode a chance. Wednesdays: Private mission night, (members only). Again, a variety of less-than-serious missions, different to the ones played on mondays. This can also be a chance to ask for clarification on any points made on the training session(s). Fridays: Training! Every week, on a Friday, we will be holding training for our members. Types of training will vary, however we will accommodate all levels of playing expertise. Those that have ideas for training can also submit them. Saturdays, and optionally Sundays: Official operations, in a structured and committed manner. These types of missions are nearly always co-operative and warfare, simply because at St0rm, teamwork is encouraged. This is what Arma's all about, if you want your PvP then Call of Duty's the second door on the left :) "Okay, that's all fine and well, your schedule looks decent. But, what roles are there for me, exactly?" The UK's structure (like any other country's) is a bit too large for a community that isn't the size of an army, but in essence we will have all three Land, Air, and Sea assets with roles to be filled. You could be anyone from a mortarman to a door gunner to a diver explosive specialist. In the way of "units" or Specops style assets, we may launch an SAS style program. Snipers are considered part of the recon asset of Land forces. MODIFICATIONS As far as modifications are concerned, we wish to retain ability to allow the maximum number of players to play with us, and as a result, we have no required mods at this moment in time. However, we will be looking into running a second server with mods, in order to get some nice changes to standard gameplay. "Could we recap then?
