The reflected light coming from moon is too weak for changing that. Maybe it had something to do with the HDR lighting, so when the moonlight was making the ground and objects visible, it affected the sky too somehow? Anyway, moon itself should not affect the colour or darkness of the sky. Darkest night sky a bit darker, less visible or smaller stars, and less blue shadows - then the night feels perfect.
