BIS, what new optimizations are you currently aiming for?

hi BIS, and community...

is there anyway of letting us know which areas you plan to optimize?

for example today on DEV branch there was an 60% optimization on LOD popping i believe?

im sure you have something hidden away ;)

so other than the obvious tweaks such as CPU and GPU what other areas are you looking into?

It was a 60% increase to LOD loading, not the popping issue.

For instance, stand about 500-600 meters from Agia Marina and then switch to an optic and see how long it takes for the LOD's to switch from low to high.

I would also like to know what optimizations they are aiming for as well though.

guy get yourself a ssd and no more lod probs at all, maybe an decent fast hdd will do the same job(at least 110mb/s avg read in hdtune). defragmentation does wonders in arma 2 lods probs back in the days as well^^.

lets explain it this way, you will get better lod loading with less hdd use if you compress things harder, but this will increase cpu usage due to decompress and u will stay with the same lod lag in the end. so faster hdd/ssd is the only way.

got a samsung 830 128gb, no probs.

im not saying im complaining about the LOD popping problem, i was just wondering what kind of other optimizations are being looked at?

my system specs are below.

I7 3790x 3.5ghz

x1 GTX690

250gb SSD (steam is installed on SSD)

16gb ram

2TB hard drive

windows 7 64 bit

you know what is faster than an SSD?...the 5 extra (out of 8) gig's of ram alot of us have that cant be used because there is no 64bit executable....sorry to be cheeky but you asking someone to go out and spend $115 plus the aggravation of backing up and reinstalling windows just because said game cant take advantage of our hardware...

I was just explaining what the optimization they did meant. I wasn't complaining about it. Thank you though for the advice.
