Guys,

i've made a decision.

i've took my time to think about it very well,...a few days.

i will stop hosting and editing / supporting Arma3 the way i did.

The reason: in short words - Arma3 will never be able to get a stable, constant massive multiplayer (with that i mean more players as every old console can handle) wargame. period.

*Sigh* i am sad too - but, there is no evidence to anything, that related to MP-Server-hosting or MP-optimizations on BIS-side will ever change or ever occur to make this a real PC multiplayer expirience.

I am sorry - but i am not going to waste my now somewhat limited sparetime with editing and/or money for servers that never get close to any average utilization of more than 30% while the game/engine fucks itself to hell.

Regarding to this, Arma3 will never get even close to my personal expectations at a 2013 largescale MP wargame.

Details regarding the future of my Servers / the Mission and its development will follow soon.

I am sure you will understand.

FIRST OF ALL: IF YOU WANT TO HOST MY / OUR MISSION - ASK ME BEFORE YOU GET IT ONLINE!!!

Reason: Because some funny Guys with no clue about hosting - and of course no respect for the work of others - didn't ask!

And i had to answer a dozen PM's "why is your server is so crappy" ...and then i found out some jerks where hosting it on some useless Home-/ or cheap VMbullshit-Servers...

And there are my contactdatas in the Briefing, usually referring to MY official servers ... but many, mostly newer Players, didn't recognized that they aren't on the "official" server or even on the newest version.

So - to avoid scaring new players away from this game mode / mission due to playing an older version which could contain certain bugs, i have to say it again, sadly:

THIS MISSION ISN'T FREE TO TAKE - IT IS STILL IN DEVELOPMENT - AND I'D LIKE TO BE ASKED BEFORE USING IT (for many, also technical reasons) AND AS IT IS "MY PROJECT", I DECIDE WHEN I "RELEASE" IT!

NO -YOU CAN'T JUST TAKE IT! - otherwise i'd have published a link to download or added it to Steamworks.

YES, YOU CAN ASK ME IF IT IS OKAY, IF YOU WANT TO HOST IT ON A PUBLIC SERVER!

I even will provide you with a special version, just for you and your server (with removed contact datas regarding me and my servers, for example...)

Sure, i do not have any "copyright" or something - but a little respect for the people who invested endless hours, some money for the servers and whatever... wouldn't be wrong, don't you think?!

Or is it already time for "take what you need, steamguy, it s only a bunch of 0's and 1's ...so nobody needs to care..."!??!?

Hey Guys,

well, after making it to Top10 at Gametrackers Arma3 Serverlist (*with the first, already removed Server) , i just wanted to say a big THANK YOU to all Players visiting my Server regularly. :)

Also many thanks to Teetimes for his great Mission and the KKZ.fr Crew for allowing me to use and rework their Edition of it.

Server Rules

PLAY THE OBJECTIVE AND YOUR ROLE. REVIVE, JOIN GROUPS,

FIRST THINK-THEN SHOOT (IDENTFY), NO TEAMKILL, NO INSULTING,

NO GLITCHING OR HACKING, NO VEHICLESTEALING, BE RESPECTFUL AND HELP OTHERS IF THEY HAVE QUESTIONS

DO NOT BASERAPE (HQs), shooting towards the enemy Mainbase HQ is STRICTLY prohibited - or you get banned.

GLOBAL-CHAT ONLY IF NECESSARY, ENGLISH IN SIDECHATS, ALL LANGUAGES ALLOWED IN GROUPCHATS. Go close to another Player and use Mousewheel to "Join Player Group".

FAQ and things you should know:

- The main target is to capture all bases. At win the Map restarts.

- NEW SHOPSYSTEM: press E key to open at RED boxes in Mainbases.

- NEW GROUPMANAGEMENT: press U key to Invite, Kick, Disband etc.

- Remove Weapon from Inventory (manually) before buying another Rifle!

- Flag Poles in taken bases are shops too. Here you can buy Quads, Jeeps ....!

- Strategic Mode is ON, you can only take Towns which are next to a already owned one!

- Voting System activated - type in chat: #vote (Restart, Admin or Kick Playername).

- FREE Vehicles / Helicopters (spawning at Mainbase) disappear 2 Minutes after leaving them.

- Bought Vehicles / Helicopters do NOT disappear after leaving until CleanUp-Script launchs.

- Teamkill-Punishment is activated - so please, look and think twice.

Still Alpha/Beta-Bugs:

If you get shot by AA in a Heli it shows friendly fire sometimes... unfortunately

Ammoboxes can not be opened or do not display the contents sometimes

and...my beloved Strategic Mode:

Strategic Mode means, that you can ONLY take a Enemy Town if it is the NEXT CLOSEST ONE and / or has Streetconnection to a already owned Town!

EXCEPTION: At Mapstart, the first Town to take is free to choose - but choose it wisely.

You CANNOT just fly across to ANY Town and take it, if the next Towns around are also owned by Enemy!

You have to go step by step, Town by Town - starting from a already owned Town.

Your Mainbase does not count as "taken Town".

My Wishlist and To-Do's (Any help is much appreciated and will be, of course, credited as well!):

More Security-Stuff a.k.a. *insert your favourite insult here*-Protection

- making the "GrenadeStop.sqf" also working on Vehicles in Base

- edit Vehicle.sqf additional INITs to "allowdamage false as long as < 100m from HQ" after they respawn again to prevent crashing stuff in mainbase

Other Stuff:

- Something like a 3 slide "Intro": images showing the most important features and how to play , unskippable for players that are on the server for the first time but skippable after first slide, if player was here before

- fix the maprestart after one side has won the round !

- fix automatic-server-restarter *done*

- Redesign Weapon- and Equipmentshop (Fonts of Itemtexts and ....dat Green looks like ...you know...)

- going to test what happens / if possible with 96 and 128 Players

- i'd like to give the possibility to buy&place "sites/modules" (like a manned MG Bunker or Mortar or something like that) for defending a town.

But i haven't found out how to add something like a "3D Editor for a Player in an certain Area. I have seen it already but not sure how to implement it... any help with that would also be much appreciated)

Features so far:

- All Beta-Stuff included, look at the different Shops

- implemented Wasteland-GUI-Shop (from JoSchaap, thx again)

- implemented Wasteland-Groupmanagement (from Deadbeat, thx again)

- 8, 12 or 17 capturable Towns

- lots of free & respawning Vehicles and Helicopters

- "Easter-Egg" or... "find the Mohawk first" ;)

- Strategic Mode

- separated Vehicle- and Helicopter-Shops

- Civilian AI / Townprotection removed and placed the Independent Green Army instead (with AT Launchers!)

- Buyable AI Reinforcements at Towns (uncontrolable, just defending the Town)

- Anti-Baserape for Main HQs (Shields)

- Anti-Hack Scripts

Update BETA v6.7 online! if you are missing something - please tell me!!!

- some changes in the Prices - especially for the Parachutes (its now 150$ only as u can use it only one time)

- Removed the AI-Defender-Buy-Option at Towns, as too many people abused it and spammed'em like hell...

- some Tweaks at CleanUp-Scripts

Had a test with "48Players only" to see how it works after a few hours - but still the same conclusion: no matter how many people are alive and playing, server-FPS drops massively after around 2 hours of playing ...

I really hope BIS will concentrate more on MP-Optimizations soon :(

- ADDED GROUPMANAGEMENT - press U key to open Menu. Here you can invite, accept / decline, kick and leave -thx again to SKIF for the Help with testing and 404Deadbeat and 404-Clan for this great Scripts!

- as so many ppl asked me to raise the Prices for AA Missiles, i did now. Feedback always welcome!

- raised the Numbers of AI-Defenders (its around 200 now for all 17 Towns together)

well, where to start? It was quite a little work to convert missing/removed/changed classes and so on to Beta...

But, i guess i added most of Betastuff to Vehicle/Heli/Weapon... Shops

Changes:

- Costs of AI Reinforcements at Towns now 15000$ (in hope of lesser abuse... maybe don't spam them, if possible please? ;) )

- Civilian AI replaced with Green Army (AT Soldier now shoots Vehicles!)

- FIXED THE WEAPONSHOP (press E) (some functions were not working correct, so the "Shoppingcart" didn't substract the right amount of money form the Account)

... sometimes it could happen you have to buy a "Hat" or something else from Equipment, if it is bugged for Ammo or Weapons *Investigating the Problems and WIP*

- "Buy Quad" at Towns fixed

- "Buy MI-48 Black" at OpforBase fixed

*removed older Version Infos

Any help is, of course, much appreciated and will be credited as well.

So if you have any ideas / scripts / feedback or whatever could help to make this a even better CTI-expirience, just tell me :)

Hello,

I've enjoyed playing your server. my feedback would be that I'd like to see less capture points (to focus the fighting a little more) and also squad leader spawn if possible.

yes - usually i like the 8-Bases Mode too.

But at the moment i am trying to get rid of a damn Bug in the Mission / with my Triggers.... (Godmode by respawning in another Base, except the HQ :( )

it's a shame ARMA3 servers seem to be plagued by idiots. i don't think i have played one session without someone griefing or hacking the server :(

Yes, and it is sad that admins / missionmakers have to put so much efforts in stopping idiots in their possibilities to ruin others gameplay ...

And no - a passworded Server is no option to me ;)

The "Godmode" Stuff is fixed so far, by using another method to Spawnprotect (thx to JW Custom), but it is only "half the rent" as Vehicles are still damageable in the Mainbases... but i guess there will be a solution too.

could you move the vehicle spawns a few 100 metres from the base maybe? could that help? when i've played on the server there's often been dozens of trucks left at spawn. would it be possible to limit the amount that can spawn at any one time?

The problem exists mainly on Blufor base.

I added some barrier blocks to try if it would help... but yesterday, again, some *insert insult here* crashed in again somehow.

I am already looking for working a "limit vehicle" script but couldn't find / create one by now.

But as a first Workaround, at least for the "whoops i bought a Hunter/Ifrit -missclicks", i will change the positions of cheap hunter with the armed Heli, so if somebody "missclicks" then, he either hasn't enough money or spent 40k ;))

first of all big thanks for your work on the mission and providing the server to us.

although I can't help on scripting issues, I do have some thoughts on the mission:

- even though there's a better, faster server now, I would recommend to limit player

numbers to 40, maybe 42 as soon as some kind of high command is availible. 5 squads á

4 players on each side should be enough on the small island, and the extra server power

may guarantee good performance even when there's lots of ledwasps in the air...

- ever thought of working on the kkz v5? In my eyes, this version is a huge step forward,

although the placed towers at camps should be removed...

- lots of players don't like playing with that arcade-style crosshairs, would you consider

to shut them off?

Hi Colonel,

i started a Vote/Poll for that stuff.

Separating the Shops for Vehicles and Helicopters to a better Place is also part of next Mapupdate as some more "Security" in and around the Mainbases.

Meanwhile i am testing a lot with configs to get the most Server-FPS out of the Game to provide you all a more fluid gameplay.

This takes time and active players on the servers - so please join in the Server # 2 (64 Players) anytime ;)

V4.5 (64 Player version)

- separated the Vehicle- and Helicopter-Shops to prevent Chaos at Mainbases. There are new additional Cashdesks, few meters away from the Spawnpoints now.

- still testing out different settings in Configs to improve Server-FPS on high Playercounts (also lowered AI defense at the moment, for example).

nice one, i voted for 3rd person off, but thinking about it you may lose too many players.

little bit more feedback. still think there are too many capture points. the southwest of the island was untouched and just became a chore to take in order to win. also in the future maybe add a version with bases in the north and south and different capture points. just to keep things from getting boring (if you've got the time and inclination)

although it's an interesting idea the item bases spread around the map seem a little redundant, i see players TKing AI in order to get the kit they want.

ps, i played a server with the radio mod. could add another element of teamplay if it's easy to include

well, you have to know how different equipement and uniforms look like. distuingishing friend

and enemy fast but correctly is a key skill in this combat sim and part of the game.

good moning folks,

any feedback at the new shopsystem? =) (yes the backpack-civilians will disappear soon)

as many people leave the server when too much teamkills happen, ...i decided to re-turn the crosshair on, as teamkilling got extreme levels :(

i will turn it off back later the days, as more players - especially the ones new to Arma - have found their way how everything works, especially how to open the map and locate teammates before shooting :rolleyes: :p

ADDED REINFORCEMENTS AT TOWNS:

Go to a Flagpole in a already taken Town and Buy a Bunch of "uncontrolled" AI (same amount as when taking the Flag)

for $ 7500

- fixed "12 Bases" Bug (missing Streetconnection in Array). Camp Tempest can now be captured!

First of all i would like to say thank you for providing us a great CTI server and all the good work on it.

As a fellow player on your server i m enjoying it, but since a while i'm having disconnections quite often, after some research i found out that your server or my arma files are different, probably my own files, explaining the yellow interrogation point on your server on servers list, don't know what to do, if you have an idea on how to solves this problem i would be very thanksfull.

Now here is my feedback on the server :

Its great ! i'm having tons of fun since the beginning, backpacked civilian sellers have been removed, i m a bit sad but its not that important, they wont miss me for long :)

The optimisation is good, i have decent fps rate ( 50-60 ) on very high settings with i5 2500k / 560ti

The items prices, especially weapons are a bit to expensive when you 1st arrive the server, and its hard being usefull with a katiba or others low range weapons against some military IA, of course its fine with civilians :p well i guess i would get better after a while. Did u re-add the crosshair because of team killers :( should find somethin to teleport them somewhere ( new little lost island far awayon the sea, naked and with sheeps going afther ther a** ) ok i stop... but kicking for a period of minutes / hours after a team kill couldn't be just fine ? :)

About the 3rd person view, i have no problems with as i consider it as player's preference, so everyone should be free to use it or not. Crosshair doesn't matter too.

When i just join ur server tonight u asked me if i could help you with the parachute, hope u find out the answer :)

For the diving suit and other diving relative stuff as submarines i have great interest but i know it would ask a lot of work like more points to captures around the map...what i would love to see especially the south of the maps that i like much than the north, i must admit that i sometimes go there just to stop my regards around, both south-east and south-west.

@Disconnects: i am not sure - but as most people can join/play without any problems, i guess, it seems to be with your Files. Or that damn Steamticketbulls...errr you know.

@ Civilian Backpackers:

I know they have been "additional Sites to fight" but they also were buggy most of the time (Backpack couldn't be opened after joining and only a rejoin/reload/reassign of your Class made them work) ... i removed them as i got the Shopsystem (thx again to JoSchaap!) up and running because it was "redundant" and confusing for the majority of (mostly new) players.

That leads me to the next point: the Prices... well yes i made them Rifles expensive, because i dont want to have 99% Snipers... so if a Sniper-Slot is free, join it. If not, go ahed, play the objectives and earn some money first... but, i think 4000$ Starting Money is enough to buy the important stuff like Optics, Silencers, AA Missiles or Backpacks.

@Parachute: sadly not - i still don't know how to parachute :(

everytime i try to jump out (eject) from a chopper (of course i have bought the Parachute and no i wasn't the pilot^^) i just instantly die... there is no key-binding or something yet to open it, AFAIK.

@Crosshair / Teamkilling: well, i will turn it off again once the majority of (again, mostly new) players learned how to identify enemys or at least to open map to be aware of their surroundings... If you get Teamkilled, after respawn you should get a additional action, written in red, for 90seconds - where you can punish a Teamkiller.

After 5 punishments the Teamkiller shouldn't be able to respawn for a while and always land in the wide open sea... so if someone has intentionally teamkilled you, was just to "dumb" to wait half a second for the identifying on his crosshair or crashing a heli due to no skill at flying - punish him!

But be aware - the bug from alpha still exists, that if you get shot in a Heli by Anti-Air Missile or something, and the explosion from the heli kills you instead of the "shot/AA" - it shows a friendly fire/teamkill from the pilot sadly.... i hope they will fix that soon, as it causes much confusion.

@ Bases: i am still testing with the perfomance, but yesterdays first Betatest seemed to be okay so far - so i will set up to 17 instead of 12 Towns again for today (remember: more bases -> more AI spawns)

@Diving: it is on my To-Do list to check that out (to be honest, not very much priority) - but i think, once Xiros Island-Base is capturable, most people intend to go there with attack-heli, blow it up and then just land there to capture it.

Maybe on the next new Map there will be more interesting Sites, worth a own "capturable" spot underwater.

I am sorry, as this mission (or lets say, my particular edition of it) is still "work in progress" i wouldn't like to have other servers hosting it at the moment.

But as soon as i think it is somewhat "ready" / bugfree and has all the features that i am going to add - of course i will publish it and ask Armaholic.com if they want to add it to their downloads.

I always have the 'not enough money' bug at the hq shop. When first spawning i can buy whatever, but after a while when i go to the shop again i get the bug. I repeatedly reopen the shopping window but it doesnt help. (ahh ok maybe 1 out of 100, but no fun)

I often hear complaints about the bug, so i am not alone.

Just for the sake of it i went and deleted my "sEi.vars.Arma3Profile", since it will revert some settings to default (it gets recreated at launch).

I do not use any mods at all.

I mostly play opfor, but yesterday i played some blufor and had the bug, but there i managed to get the shop to work occasionally (1 of 10).

So a 'normal' game for me is: Start, buy some stuff... Go fight... out of ammo! - fly the rest of the game. ;) (i love flying though)

Maybe something is still wrong in the shoppingcart code. Sorry i'm not into arma coding so i cannot help you there.

EDIT: The bug is still in the latest version (uploaded today 27 June), but i have gotten a way around the bug!.

This sounds crazy but: Open the buy screen and select and buy a hat (100$), then without closing the shop you can continue to buy whatever you want. :d:

The "buy a hat fix" worked a long time, but now it didn't work. Gonna retest....!
