ExtinctSquirrel 1 Posted May 18, 2013 Hello ArmA 2 community. I've been on this forum a long time ago requesting help for flying the helicopters in ArmA 2 OA, mainly the UH-1H. I'm happy to report that flying with this hunk-a-junk is no trouble what so ever, thanks to some dedicated time training and the help of the forum users. Now I'm back.. again with a request for help. This time it's regarding aiming with certain weapons, I know this sounds like a broad spectrum so I'll narrow it down by saying that I, along with many of the ArmA 2 OA players, love playing DayZ. Certain sniper rifles and other weaponry that work at long range is what I am looking for. (i.e. DMR/M24/AK's/M16/M4) Now after only god knows how many hours I've spent carefull planning my every bullet before releasing it from my weapon I've gotten a bit of a feeling as to where it'll drop and how high I have to aim. I'm looking for more accuracy in my gameplay to get a better result of my endevours. I was wondering if someone had some kind of map with targets at designated distance and heights.. or with NPC's moving in a straight line at certain distances. Hopefully it'll help me and other players seeking for just that little more accuracy training. Kind regards; ExtinctSquirrel
ExtinctSquirrel 1 Posted May 18, 2013 Not so sure if the wellknown 'bump' is welcome on these forums but I might aswell give it a try.
Joe98 91 Posted May 19, 2013 If you can use the Arma2 editor then: Select a sniper because he carries a range finder. Place him at one end of a runway. Place a box of weapons on the map adjacent to the soldier. Place targets along the length of the runway. Using the range finder you can see the precise distance to any target. Now select any weapon and fire at any target ( or targets). Once you find this works use copy and paste and copy the whole "mission" to some sloping ground with very few trees - because real ground is rarely flat. Also you can place enemy soldiers on the map, use removeallweapons (so they don't shoot back) and have them run across your front at varying distances - and you can practise shooting at them. You can practise throwing grenades by using smoke grenades. Having thrown at a target you can walk up to the grenade and see EXACTLY where it landed. You can't do that with FRAG grenades. Grenade practise should be done on sloping ground and steep ground too.
PlacidPaul 11 Posted May 20, 2013 http://www.armaholic.com/page.php?id=14616try this, very helpful. Also, try remapping hold breath to somewhere else, then practice at getting a rhythm.
ExtinctSquirrel 1 Posted May 20, 2013 Joe98, PlacidPaul. I read both your replies almost as soon as they were posted but didn't quite respond. I have yet to test out Joe's idea but I hope it'll work. The map Paul suggested is something what I was looking for, I haven't seen the map myself so I'll test it out as soon as possible. I'll update the thread with the progress. ExtinctSquirrel 1 Posted May 22, 2013 This is exactly what I was looking for :) Thanks Placid, it has helped some of my aiming already. I've also learned that bullets bounce and can achieve an even greater distance.. Ofcourse.. I had to make a game out of it and see if I can bounce headshot a soldier at 1400m distance with a lee enfield.. No luck so far ;(
