super-truite 54 Posted April 18, 2013 I am a bit confuse about something. I want to play sounds that fade with distance. I use say3D which seems to be the adequate function, but I am disappointed by it: there is no smooth fade out of the sound when I move away from the source. It sort of brutally stop when I am far enough. Is it my audio file? Am I using the wrong function? or is it a problem from the game?
thelastnoc 10 Posted April 18, 2013 As far as i can tell, the Audiofile must be Mono for what you want to do.
super-truite 54 Posted April 19, 2013 (edited) my files are already mono. Am I the only one having this issue? Edited April 19, 2013 by super-truite
duhmedic 1 Posted July 2, 2013 NO I am also having this problem. The sound isn't fading as distance is closed or gained. The frustrating part is the wiki says this is how the script behaves when it obviously doesn't.
soolie 189 Posted July 2, 2013 You can try playsound3d not sure if it works better but heres the wiki page http://community.bistudio.com/wiki/playSound3D
duhmedic 1 Posted July 2, 2013 Actually that didn't work at all. I couldn't get it to play an audio file of either ogg or wav from the preferred directory.
Mr_B_A_Baracus 10 Posted July 6, 2013 In my experience, playsound3d only works with an absolute path which is useless for multiplayer. On a related subject, when using say3d, how/ can you change the distance that the sound is audible from?
