sounds fading with distance

I am a bit confuse about something. I want to play sounds that fade with distance.

I use say3D which seems to be the adequate function, but I am disappointed by it:

there is no smooth fade out of the sound when I move away from the source.

It sort of brutally stop when I am far enough. Is it my audio file? Am I using the wrong function?

or is it a problem from the game?

my files are already mono.

Am I the only one having this issue?

NO I am also having this problem. The sound isn't fading as distance is closed or gained. The frustrating part is the wiki says this is how the script behaves when it obviously doesn't.

Actually that didn't work at all. I couldn't get it to play an audio file of either ogg or wav from the preferred directory.

In my experience, playsound3d only works with an absolute path which is useless for multiplayer.

On a related subject, when using say3d, how/ can you change the distance that the sound is audible from?
