Technical info on sockets - suma

Well I have a little more idea after reading this thread. And seeing Lt_Dan_Sweden [sWEC] server settings for his 2mb connected server and some of the things Suma has Kindly told us.:D

[sES] Run our server on a 10Mb connection and these are our settings..:-o

MaxMsgSend = 256;

MinBandwidth = 512000;

maxPlayers=26;

We have played with these setting with no significant change, so left them out and they set to default.

MaxSizeGuaranteed="###";

MaxSizeNonguaranteed="##";

The server is a 1Ghz 512Mb machine.

If you run a similar server, or have any suggestion i would love to hear from you. Maybe as a group we can optimise all the servers by learning from each others mistakes and finds

biggrin.gif We dont have any major Lag issues (except the Ghosting problem) But I'm sure it can be better ........

Is there one definitive list that describes all there is to server .cfg's and internet/LAN multiplay?

I would also love to get my hands on such a list!...

Anyone?

Oh damn, i was just reading this, thinking "hell, some of this questions were already asked ages ago" when i noticed the august date on some messages and after that the year 2002 sad_o.gif

Well it just shows that server performance is still an important issue. I mean, many of us run servers that could easily handle 100s or 1000s of simultaneous database queries but struggle with more than 30 players in OFP.

Apart from a few "urban legend" magic servers which mysteriously run with 64 players and no lag... rock.gif
