Richie72 10 Posted March 13, 2013 I'm loving the already superb Alpha so keep up the good work BIS. After playing Arma 2 with a few issues for the last few years in NVidia 3D vision I was really hoping Arma 3 would be a better experience. After installing the Alpha on the first day of its release my hopes were dashed. The 3D in Arma 3 Alpha is probably the worst I have ever seen! I know it's still in Alpha but When 3D vision is activated all I can see are grey shadows without any textures covering them. It is DX11 too so no hope for the current Helix fixers on the Nvidia forums. The Arma series and Flashpoint (original) before that are my favourite series of all time and I really hope Bohemia Interactive could work with Nvidia on this as they are with PhysX. Arma + TrackIR + 3d vision = Perfection.
WetBread 1 Posted March 15, 2013 Posting to show support. A game like this would be magical if 3D worked.
ronwelch 1 Posted March 15, 2013 Same here. I play the hell out of Left 4 Dead 2 because it's 3D support is so sweet. The aiming reticle is dynamic and switches its depth based upon what's in front of it. It's not difficult at all to ensure 3D works properly in your game. The people at nVidia and especially the Helix 3D fix guys can help. I, for one, will not be buying ARMA III unless 3D is excellent. I have enough games with lousy support which I don't play, inluding ARMA II. COD's support is better so I play it instead. With BIS's TrackIR support, the inclusion of 3D is a no-brainer. The same people who own TrackIRs also own 3D glasses (like me). 3D Musts: ensure the HUD is at proper depth and adjusts if needed, dynamic reticle (laser pointer), proper depth & convergence while scoped, player markers and map markers must have their own depth (not generic HUD depth), test with the 3D community by providing game copies to Helix (nVidia isn't good at all at rating 3D even though it's their glasses that I use). heruon 1 Posted March 16, 2013 Arma + TrackIR + 3d vision = Perfection. Or Arma + Occulus Rift = Perfection
Leon86 13 Posted March 18, 2013 So have you guys tried it yet? see if the 3d driver allows you to tweak it so the right eye is exactly the same as the normal non 3d view and the left eye is quite a bit to the left. if you dont do this the aimpoint sights will not work. Darthwaveous 10 Posted March 19, 2013 Yes I was wondering if anybody have tried using 3d yet? I think if I have some spare time tonight I'm going to give it a shot.
Richie72 10 Posted March 19, 2013 Nothing but the sky and a few textures in the background show up with 3D vision enabled. All foreground polygons, i.e gun, arms, body, vehicles, buildings, grass, trees etc etc are light grey with no textures covering them. This is probably the way DX11 shows the textures from what I understand so it would need some work from BIS and Nvidia if possible.
gammadust 12 Posted March 19, 2013 ^^ I wanted to test this too, but after having tried unsuccessfuly, i was assuming some very basic level support was not implemented yet since when i launch with 3d mode activated everything stays the same (Ctrl+T does nothing). Other applications run fine in stereo 3d. Are you using the stable or the dev branch Richie?
Richie72 10 Posted March 19, 2013 ^^ Are you using the stable or the dev branch Richie? I was using the Dev and its the same as stable. I can get 3d vision to start it's just like I said. Also using nvidia 314.14 drivers. I hope it could be a simple fix Bohemia could do.
gammadust 12 Posted March 19, 2013 I got it now... i was running windowed fullscreen. 3D mode wouldn't start. Got it in native fullscreen. I am experiencing the same artifacts as you. Lack of textures applied to near field objects.
tet5uo 4 Posted March 20, 2013 I think most rendering techniques used in the game don't play well with stereoscopic 3d. You'd have to re-write many of the shaders.
MadBadMartin 1 Posted April 13, 2013 +1 for 3D support!
ronwelch 1 Posted April 13, 2013 Batman Arkham City and Tomb Raider are both DX11 and have excellent 3D support. You can even set the depth and convergence with sliders in the options. It has to be included by the developer though. There is no fixing bad shaders with Helix mod for DX11. It only works on DX9. Because 3D isn't currently supported in Arma III, I won't be buying it. Richie72 10 Posted October 25, 2013 Still no possibility of 3D vision use. I see there is a vote on dev branch for them to implement it but I don't think they will. Please BI, ask Nvidia to help get this fixed. Still playing the game in flat 2D though and it is fantastic so +1 for Bohemia
