Frame Rate Issues

Okay, so I have a XFX 7850 Radeon GPU and an i5 650 CPU 1360 x 768 60Hz

Everyone says that they can max out the settings and not have fps below 30 (basically the playable fps) and are also on 1920 x 1080 res .

I have tried lowering my settings but going from max to nothing just makes the game look like shit and only 5 fps increase (30)

Sometimes I get 40 fps, 60 fps, but mostly its around 20-25 or below . I understand its in alpha but this is insane .

As of the last week people have been having some frame issues, although it's inconsistent, some are resolvable where some are just the game. I'd recommend turning off Picture in Picture, which makes the game world render twice, turn View Distance down to around 1500 and work your way up from there. Arma titles usually aren't as simple as throwing everything on max settings and calling it good, as much as I wish they were.

I have a Phenom II x4 @3.6 and the same GPU as you, the 7850, I have most things running at "High" except PiP turned off, shadows medium, and view distance 2500-3500 depending on what I'm doing and how much I need.

I've got a GTX 670 and a i5 2500k and I'm able to at least hit 25-30 on very high settings with AA dialed back a bit. The engine is CPU heavy though and the game ran better after clearing up any extra programs running in the background and doing a disk defrag. Right now as well, people are having issues with the AI affecting performance and I believe multiplayer performance is also down- so there is work yet to be done that will help us all out with performance.

I'm surprised that you are only getting a 5 fps increase when you kill all the settings. I'll check later and see if I get the same minimal performance increase with my set up. Hopefully someone with more knowledge that me will be able to help you get to a more playable frame rate.
