Unable to connect to server on my local network.

Recommended Posts

Hi there,

My dad and I often play our own ArmA 2 server (Not OA). Recently I have been unable to connect to his, and only his, server. If anyone could help with troubleshooting this, it would be greatly appreciated.

If you would like to contact me on steam to discuss, my Steam Name is: Rookie_96

*EDIT*

He is able to connect if I host, and others can join both his and my servers.

The same problem persists into the ArmA3 Alpha.

I can connect to all other servers.

So others outside your LAN can join both your hosted servers, he can join yours over LAN, but you cannot join his?

Are you both using the same copy of the game?

What happens when you try and join his server (ie do you get any message or error)?

If the same problem happens with Arma 3 then my guess is something local to Dad's machine like firewall or some other block on LAN connections.

Thanks for the reply.

Yes others outside our LAN can join both our servers. I can join all other servers and all can join him. Just me that cannot join him.

When I try to join his server I get "Connecting Failed." We are using separate copies of the game each purchased through steam.

Are you using the MP LAN browser to find the server and joining that way? Have you tried joining via Direct (ie: IP and port)? Disable/shutdown any firewall sofware or AV software? My guess is still that there is something on your Dad's PC blocking LAN connections....
