DarrenV 1 Posted March 8, 2013 Hello, I'm currently having an issue with ArmA 3. The issue is that, whenever I try to play it, the game does not launch. Instead, Steam only synchronizes for a moment. I've tried launching it in windowed mode and running Steam as an administrator but to no avail. If you could help, that would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. System Specs: Windows 7 Ultimate (64-bit) i7-2600k @ 3.4GHz 8GB DDR3 Nvidia GeForce GTX 560 Ti
Hilariushiiri 10 Posted March 8, 2013 I noticed that if you have mumble running in the background some steam games wont open.. like Dota2 and arma 3. Try closing your voip programs (mumble,TS,vent) and open the games. When the game is open the voip programs can be opened again..
mr. bravo 17 Posted March 8, 2013 I have the same problem sometimes, but if I wait about 10 seconds and try again it boots up normally. The wait because otherwise Steam will tell me that the game is already launched, eventhough it doesn't show in taskmanager, so I guess it takes a few seconds for it to realize. So try that. ImJoee 1 Posted March 8, 2013 Any updates on this? I'm having the same trouble, I've tried opening it several different ways, restarting steam, restarting comp. Nothing.
XSOF - Toxx 10 Posted March 8, 2013 Did you try disabling your Antivirus / Firewall? Helped a friend of mine with the same problem.
ImJoee 1 Posted March 8, 2013 Just tried it, unfortunately not. As with before it starts to load, my chat icon goes green and says ArmaIII, then one second later goes back to blue and nothing happens.
dmarkwick 261 Posted March 8, 2013 Have you ever had A2 running? I had to update my video drivers before getting A3 to run the first time.
ImJoee 1 Posted March 8, 2013 (edited) No but it's only a 2 month old PC and the drivers have been fine for a host of other games. but i'll give it a shot too! EDIT: nope all up to date too. Edited March 8, 2013 by ImJoee
XSOF - Toxx 10 Posted March 8, 2013 Do you have the latest (stable) video drivers and DirectX? Did you try to use Steam's repair-installation-function? Do you have ZoneAlarm (kill it with fire)?
Kalidor 1 Posted March 8, 2013 If you use Fraps disabel it. My Arma3 did not start while Fraps was running. If you want to see your frames then use the overlay from MSI Afterburner, this works for me.
DarrenV 1 Posted March 8, 2013 I fixed it by simply uninstalling ZoneAlarm.
XSOF - Toxx 10 Posted March 8, 2013 yeah ZoneAlarm seems to block Arma 3, this was my friends problem, too
Rbeasley14 1 Posted March 8, 2013 Is ZoneAlarm something that installs automatically with Arma3?
DarrenV 1 Posted March 9, 2013 Not at all. It's a completely different and unrelated piece of software.
ImJoee 1 Posted March 9, 2013 Ahh okay, I disabled it and nothing work but I'll try and uninstall Zone Alarm thanks.
St. Jimmy 272 Posted March 9, 2013 Uninstalling ZoneAlarm worked for my friend also. Disable didn't have any effect.
ImJoee 1 Posted March 9, 2013 Okay I found a fix for a different game: Free version Uninstall the component called Zone Alarm Toolbar: Open "Add or remove programs" Select the item called Zone Alarm Toolbar Click Uninstall and follow instructions on-screen Restart the PC Full version (should work for the free version as well) Disable the ZoneAlarm Toolbar IswSvc service: Right-click Computer and select Manage On the left, under Services and Applications select Services Right-click a service named "ZoneAlarm Toolbar IswSvc" and select Properties For Startup type, select Disabled Click OK Restart the PC Tried it, worked!
