red oct 2 Posted July 12, 2002 well the really bad thing about whats happening to me is that this happens every other time i start the game, and i really hate having to shut my pc down every other time this happens cuzz it can screw up my stuff. but its never happened at the copy right screen the screen doesnt even go black all thats on is my desk top w/ the ofp resistince logo in the center and im completely locked out the mouse cursor still moves but it can't do nothing. i don't think it has nothing to do w/ the specs but just to be sure heres mine: O.P.S. Windows M.E. AMD Athlon processor about 700 or 800 mgz (someware around there i lost my specs sheet) 37.2 GB of ram w/ 19.9 GB in use and 17.2 GB of Free Space Nvidia  Riva TNT2 Graphics card DVD Rom Drive so is there a Mr. Suma in the house cuzz i really need some help is there a patch or something? and is there any one else have the exact same problem as me? OUberLord 0 Posted July 13, 2002 Here, this may help. On the shortcut to Operation Flashpoint, put in -nosplash after the command line, so it looks something like this: F:\OperationFlashpoint\FlashpointResistance.exe -nosplash This will bypass the four splash screens, showing only a small loading thing and then bam, main menu. I use this because you can play the damn game faster Hopefully thisll help.
russin 0 Posted July 13, 2002 im not sure if you just un-installed you must take out all manually as well plus i got REG-edit to find hidden ofp files then and only then is it a clean in-stall there are hidden files that store info well thats what i did and it now works for me. ps bis needs to make a patch as well im sure we are not the only ones

Placebo 29 Posted July 13, 2002 Don't suppose you have an alternative cd-rom drive you could try? Perhaps Opf:R comes with an updated version of safedisc that your cd-rom drive doesn't like?
red oct 2 Posted July 13, 2002 i don't know what it is i don't think it has nothing to do w/ the CD rom drive, but my dad is telling me that the problem is something that my resistance is having some kinda problem w/ another program one that may be running or something but i don't know what that could be. so far i think i managed to figure out that if i simply restart or shut down my pc that after each time i play it and than turn it back on that i won't happen. Placebo 29 Posted July 13, 2002 Ok I'm totally confused now, can you play the game or not? Are you saying everything is fine except for when you put the Opf:R CD in? As in if the CD is already in when you reboot then you can play fine? Maybe I'm being thick but you're confusing me
red oct 2 Posted July 14, 2002 yes i think you are being thick (j/k) heres the problem in as much detail as i can describe: first i turn the pc on, next i either start the resistance CD by going into my computer and clicking the cd rom drive to start the auto run OR i will go to the short cut icon. now the game will either run well for as long as i play OR at times it will crash and that blue screen will come up w/ a bunch of jimberish on it, i press enter and than im back to my desktop, theres one problem im having, (your w/ me so far right?) now heres the BIGGER problem, now weather or not the game crashes OR i simply exit out of the game and intend to come back later and play while leaving my PC on, there is always this problem w/ the second boot up of resistance, each time i start the game a second time, it ALWAYS locks up completely on my desktop w/ the ofp:r logo in the center of my desktop, the mouse cursor will still move and all but i can't click on anything, OR ctrl alt delete or alt tab comands work, the only way out of this crash is by shuting down the pc which can cause problems if done continueously. it doesn't matter which way i start the game weather i go through the auto play or the short cut it happens always on the 2nd boot-up always at the same damn time at the ofp:r logo, BUT if i restart or shut down the pc that problem goes away, but than i have to deal w/ the problem of that damn random crash that happens during the game play. so now are you getting what my problem is? i know its confusing and when it makes sense to others its totally weird, buts its happening and its a very serrious problem. now heres the attempts i tried to fix this first try: remove all unofficial addons and reinstall resistance (that attempt failed) second try: completely uninstall ofp alltogether, (that being origonal ofp, red hammer and reisistance) deleting the codemasters folder and reinstalling everything in order from ofp, red hammer, and than resistance, (that too didn't work) third attempt: shut down all task programs running and see which one ofp:resistance is having a problem w/ but i still haven't found that out because of the damn random bug, crash thats happening during gameplay) so the best solution i can think of is one that involves bis having to make a patch that'll fix this cuzz i can't find a way to fix it, i tried every possible solution there is from the reinstalling b.s. to even searching Windows Updates for WinME to see if that would fix it but there wasn't any updates for WinME. so the problem at least i assume it is, is that there is some kinda compatablility issue w/ the game and the only way to fix it is a official patch so a new question of mine is to Suma: When will there be any kinda patch for Resistance? Summery i have 2 problems: Main problem: game comes to complete lock up on 2nd boot up of the game but works fine after the pc is restarted or shut down and started back up Second problem: even if i do get past the "Main Problem" there is still the Random in game crashes ware a blue screen comes up w/ a bunch of weird gimberish (i can't remember what the messages say) there, i can't make it any simplier than that so is there a kind and nobel ofp Dev on the forum who can tell me how to fix the bugs (at least the main problem) or tell the the possible release date of a patch for resistance. please! red oct 2 Posted July 14, 2002 BTW, heres my CORRECT specs (i gave wrong info sorry) Gateway PC AMD Athlon processor 700mhz or 800mhz (i don't remember) w/ MMX (whatever the hell that is) Vnidia Rivia TNT2 model 64 128.0 MB of Ram
Placebo 29 Posted July 14, 2002 Off the top of my head I would guess at something like, there is a problem with your RAM maybe, rebooting clears the RAM thus it's ok again, there's a problem with your hard drive, temporary files/swapfile type things are being cleared on a reboot thus it works ok again. When was the last time your hard drive was formatted? Not that I'm currently suggesting that, just wondering How old is your hard drive? How old is the RAM? I could be barking completely up the wrong tree, if so Mr. Frag can wonder in later and tell me off
