AceDog97 10 Posted February 28, 2013 Hello all at Bohemia, love your past games and A3 is just looking stunning so far. I was just wondering: I know there are very obvious things included with the DD version of the A3 Alpha, but what exactly do you guys mean by "digital maps". Another inquiry, will you be including better helicopter physics with the ToH flight model? And by this I mean the essence of not exploding on light impact with the ground after an engine failure and autorotation. I also noticed in A2 that it is practically impossible to taxi/do a rolling takeoff or landing with helis that have wheels. It is just an inconvenience for me since I have extreme OCD when it comes to aviation. Any thoughts on that?
Yett71 10 Posted March 1, 2013 Probably will be a downloadable PDF file of the maps in High Quality with locations and stuff.
EvenLease 11 Posted March 1, 2013 When it comes to how helicopters will react to hitting the ground, or rolling take offs... I'd say wait and see on Tuesday, plenty of videos will come out showing off everything. That'll give you a good idea.
chortles 263 Posted March 2, 2013 Just to answer: The TOH flight model is NOT in the March 5 alpha release... it's apparently supposed to be in by the time of the full game, but there is NOT a date for when that will be, so "at some point after March 5 and before Q3 2013". wipman 1 Posted March 2, 2013 Hi, the Digital Maps gonna be High-Res .pdf files, just as they did with the ArmA & ArmA2 but for free; much later on the the game's release IRC... i don't know if you gonna be able to roll by the runway or highway with the wheeled choppers, but im sure that the crash model will be kept as basic as we've always seen on the serie; there don't seem to be a complex damage system ala DCS, so i'll bet that if the chopper touches the ground at a certain speed or beyond certain heigh... it'll explode as always. But this is just my opinion, we'll have to wait and see. Let's C ya
AceDog97 10 Posted March 3, 2013 I'm seriously hoping that isn't true, of the helos at least. I thought that was what digital maps meant, just wasn't sure of their complexity. Thanks for the replies.
sproyd 2 Posted March 3, 2013 The key is that's its an infantry-focused game (which devs have repeated on many occasions) and so they really can't justify making it perfect in every regard re: aviation or land vehicle impacts. There are other games for you if that's your thing.
