Need some help on an error...

Recommended Posts

This started about 2 weeks ago. Ill get into a mp game, then within like 2 minutes, ill get booted to desktop with an error that says "Cannot allocate 83 mb of virtual memory. You probably have your hard disk full. If you control your swap file size manually, consider setting it bigger." Anyone have any ideas on what might be wrong, and if so, possibly a solution? Thx.

Err the error message gives you the probable solution biggrin.gif

Increase the size of your swap file, and/or free up some space on your hard drive if applicable smile.gif

Well for XP click these in order....

control panel / system / advanced / settings (for the top, performance one) / advanced / change

That's where you change your swapfile settings, if you use me or 98 then I don't remember exactly where you go, it's similar up until system, then it's different after that, it sounds more than likely that your hard drive has gotten full up, how much space do you have? try to clear at least 1gb of space if not more smile.gif

Ahh it shows here how to do it for the old windows versions

http://www.techspot.com/tweaks/memory/memory-5.shtml

Basically for Resistance you want as much hard drive space free as possible and to let windows manage the swapfile itself, that's not the most tweaked thing to do but it seems right now Resistance is extremely ram hungry smile.gif
